I don't know how many of you are aware of this annual event, but to see if a florist near you is participating, you can go to
http://www.ftd.com/350/content/news_views/good_neighbor_day_2002.epl
The deal is you get a dozen roses for free from the florist ***NO STRINGS ATTACHED*** Can you believe that? You are supposed to keep one and give the rest to others to show you care :) Ain't that sweet? I've been doing it for years and love it. It is nice to make people smile for no reason at all. Check it out...

How kewl!
I checked the list and didn't see a florist anywhere near me, but I might stop at one and see if they are aware and are participating. I love things like this.
I don't have too many good ones in my garden right now (between blooms) or I'd simply grab from there. Had to take one pretty one for Nate's teacher today as it's her birthday. (he's such a suck-up lol)
Thanks for sharing this info Belle, I had no idea this was anything other than another named day.

I checked it this morning and although I'm right outside of Houston, they only listed one store in Houston. I would have thought more would have participated. :( No roses for me or my friends. (yeah, i'm too cheap to actually BUY them:) ) |

Actually, a lot more must participate than was listed. I know about it because the florist down the street puts a huge banner out a week before to remind us to stop in. For curiosity, I went to the FTD website and none of my local participating florists were listed :( Strange. Maybe they have to pay to 'advertise' there? I dunno. But there are quite a few in the tri-cities here that do it. I'll have to ask next time. But, thanks for looking anyway :)
