Francine As some of you know, our priest is being transferred. His last Sunday Masses with us are tomorrow.

It is a long story, but suffice it to say, our Bishop really let us down by taking this priest away from us. It was a real tough blow to us, and to Fr. Bill.

The short version is this. This priest came in 5 years ago, and took two parishes, that were ready to be shut down, and joined them together. Within two years, we had put together a plan, petitioned the Bishop, and got permission to join the two parishes into one. We became All Saints Parish. Membership increased, programs got fine tuned, it was great!

This priest, Fr. Bill, was not our Pastor, he was our administrator. He did not qualify to be named a pastor yet. A few months ago, he reached the point where he qualified. He really had hoped to be the first Pastor of All Saints Parish, the parish that he helped build.

He will not be, though, as he was named pastor of another parish, in another town.

We still don't know who we are getting. We are told we are getting someone, but as of Monday, we have no priest. There are lots of rumors flying around as to who we will get.

What we hope for is to get a Pastor, not an administrator.

So, tomorrow is a sad day for me. I have to sing twice, at both Masses, and it will be very hard to do. Fr. Bill is a dear freind to our family, and that will remain. I just will miss having him as our shephard at Church.

fantayzya As hard as it sometimes is for us to understand the whys of things Francine just try to remember that God has reasons for what happens even if we can't figure them out.

Maybe He's seen how the two parishes have worked together and become one thriving group and He has something very special in mind.

It will work out.

LindaD I'm so sorry that your church is losing such a super priest but hopefully the new one will at least be good. I hope that you meet him soon!

MzEeyore My thoughts and prayers are with you and the members of your church. Our church went thru the same thing last year and it was tough on all of us. I love our new preacher but it is different and if you are anything at all like me--I hate change. All of us were in a routine and when that routine was broken it was hard.
I will keep you and your church in my daily prayers.

I know how hard this must be for you.

Our new priest's first Sunday is today, but our last priest retired. I'm a little excited and anxious about this. Hopefully, soon, you'll be able to feel the same way.

annie I hope it works out well for you. Our parish lost a wonderful pastor a few years ago, under mysterious circumstances, and flying rumors (not, not those kinds of rumors thank goodness!) and the new pastor just isn't at all what we needed. A number of us have left and joined a neighboring parish, including families that had been very involved in Religious Education (CCD). It's sad.

So I really hope things work out better for you Francine!

Belle I am so sorry Francine, a new priest is a very tough thing to get used to. I went to Catholic school at the same place we went to church. The Pastor was undoubtedly one of the most kind, patient and spiritual priests I have ever met. Apparently this was also recognized by the diocese because he was promoted to bishop and relocated to LA :( The replacement was a nice guy, but it was just never the same.

{hugs}
Belle <--who doesn't adjust to change that well :(
