TnDizNut Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers.
He had an MRI yestrday at 4 pm and the neurosurgeon came in around 5:30 and told us that Dad had NOT had a stroke and in fact has never had a stroke of any kind. What the MRI showed was tumors on his brain...several of them..at least 5 he said.
The Oncologist is supposed to see him in the morning (sat)..he will have to undergo a battery of tests and another mri to see if there are any tumors in his chest or on other organs. If any others are found elsewhere they will target those first for a biopsy....
I'm sure I don't have to tell you the implication of what it means if tumors are found elsewhere in his body. The most aggravating thing right now is that it is a holiday w/e and we are basically on "hold" until Tues..........GRrrrrrrr. If no others are found the neuro said Thurs would be the soonest he could sched surgery for the biopsy of the ones on the brain.( Thurs is also the day my DIL is going to have labor induced if the baby doesn't come before then AND in a dif hosp...holy smokes somebody PM me some valium I'm gonna need it! ) The neuro is also not on duty again until tues ( it's his w/e off ) so am not sure what if any tests will even be done before then. Maybe the Oncologist will be able to expand on that today. Mom and I were pretty shocked when the neuro came in with this news and of course with Dad being deaf in one ear and only partial hearing in the other he didn't even hear a word of what the Dr said so we had to tell him after he left the room.
They have him medicated with dilantin ( I think that's the name ) to control the seizures and some mild sedatives as well. that's probably a good thing as he's not a very good patient so he's more "agreeable" that way...lol
I will send an update as soon as more is known...
A friends mother had 2 brain tumors and none were found anywhere else..they were benign and removed and all is well..hopefully that is how this will play out as well.

Francine I will keep you in my prayers.

Please, try to take care of yourself. Speaking from experience, all of this can really be draining. Make yourself relax. Take time to just sit, and close your eyes, and meditate. Don't skip meals. Drink lots of water.

We are here, when you need us.
