I got a phone call late last night my Dad was taken to hospital. He had a stroke 3 weeks ago that affected his left arm and leg. My Mom said he had seemed much better yesterday and even called her at work to brag that he had been getting around the house alot better with a new walker they bought the day before. At some point during the evening she witnessed him having what she thought was another stroke....he told her it was nothing and had been having those episodes for a while and he didn't tell anyone!!!...Grrrr, She was horrified and called ambulance and it turns out to be seizures caused by the stroke they suspect. Catscan showed a large dark spot in his head which wasn't there 3 wks ago after the stroke so at 1am they moved him to a larger hosp in a nearby town to see a neurosurgeon and have an mri which is sched for sometime today. They tossed the word tumor around but I can't imagine a tumor could grow in 3 weeks...my thoughts are it's a pool of blood maybe from a ruptured vessel possibly caused from another stroke and putting pressure somewhere to cause the seizures? Anyone have any knowledge of this type of thing? Guess will just have to wait for mri results and I hope we don't have to wait days to find out!
Sorry the post is so long but I do feel a tad better just talking about it. |

My Mom is a stroke victim. It is not fun to go through.
I am not sure what to tell you about the spot. It could be scar tissue, it could be a blood clot. Really, it is best not to try to figure it out. Wait for the test results to come in.
I will most surely keep you in my dailys today. My heart absolutely goes out to you, and your family. Please, know we are here, okay?

One of the scariest parts of dealing with brains, is that so little is still known about them.
My father was a stroke patient (He wasn't the type to be victimized, so I tend not to use that particular term), and from personal experience, I can assure you to wait for the MRI results.
Our littlest one had her first MRI at 4 months, and brain surgery at 10 months. Yes, all this stuff is scary, but even though they may not know all the answers, I can also say that with what they do know, they can oftentimes help to make it better.
You, and your family, are in our prayers. Please keep us posted...
