Hi Kelly!
I'm still very new at it and have kind of made that one of my winter things but I'd love to learn how to create even better pages and a chance for some interaction on that topic sounds great to me.
How bout it Amy? You in too? (psst Kelly, Amy is into scrapping big time. As in selling supplies!)

Oh, Lor, how soon you forget that there is a male scrapbooker out there... who, BTW, specializes in the family Disney Trips albums!!
One of these days, I've got to get the pages scanned, but the first album, which includes the Clubhouse meet of '00, really is something to see (if I humbly say so myself!).
'Course, I don't know if it compares to your CD-ROM version... I still love breaking that out and taking a look at it once in a while!
I'm up for any kind of scrapbooking Disney style questions or ideas!!

Bill!!!
How very nice to see you here! In fact seeing your name brought tears to my eyes.
I haven't forgotten that you are a scrap-booker my friend and I think that is so very cool. In fact, when the school start up dies down and I have a couple of minutes, I'm going to put some pics in the mail for you that you should have had ages ago. I just got the kewlest new printer (a dye sublimation printer) for photos and it's amazing.
You are welcome to join in any discussion here by all means.
Hugs!

I've put together a book of all our family's Christmases, and a few other pages, but lacking a dedicated workspace I find it hard to keep up, when I have to clean everything up each night! And finding the time isn't easy, either!
We're planning to get a new computer (this one is almost 6 years old and barely keeping up) and I just got kewl new printer & scanner, so hopefully I'll be able to start using the computer to make new pages. At least my photos are sorted, that's the hardest part!

Hi, everyone, yes, I love scrapbooking! I've got 5 family albums, an album of our 1999 Disney trip, a family recipe album, a family traditions album with supplies bought and a couple pages done, an album of dh's trip to Japan to start, and an album to do of our upcoming Disney trip.
There are so many more Disney-related supplies out there than when I was doing this in 1999.
There's even a site that specializes in items for Disney albums: http://www.mousmemories.com
No affiliation with the site above, although I am a scrapbooking consultant with a relatively new company.
If anybody has any questions about scrapbooking, I'm more than happy to try to answer them. I don't know all the answers, but I can usually tell you where to find an answer! LOL

This is way cool!!
Scarlet.. I wanted to respond to your questions. I'm still dealing with the linear movement of this discussion board, so pardon me while I adjust!
Anyway... what I've found helpful for our Disney albums, is to basically pick a method of organization. By that I mean, will it be chronological (a day-by-day album), by park (where everything from one park but possibly several days, is put together in a group), or even simply by special events from the trip (such as tours, special meals, maybe even particularly special rides). Once you get that decided on, then it's time to get your photos grouped properly.
What I find is, is that the preperation and organization is a key to success. Oh, and having an idea about what your final outcome will be is critical too! Will this be a standalone album, or will it be a continuous work in progress that keeps getting added to.
For example... our first Disney World trip album is a chronological album. It starts with the flight out, and ends with the flight back. Oh, and there's lots of stuff in between. Now, I will admit, I did add a few other goodies. As you might imagine from my nickname, I like Rhinos (most people who visit our house would call that a serious understatement!). So... in the middle of the album, I put two pages of nothing but random pictures of rhinos from all around WDW! It worked well, because it came right after the first AK pages, so the theming carried over.
A word of caution at this point. I have gone into scrapbooking stores, and seen the books on the shelves with example pages. 'Idea Books' they call themselves. Frankly, most of those pages, while impressive, are way too complicated and fancy, especially for my taste! Mind you, I can get somewhat extreme, but I try to never get so fancy that the story I'm trying to tell gets lost with all the paper pieces and stickers and die cuts, etc... What I'm saying here is...
The most important thing about scrapbooking is that you're telling a story, and leaving a legacy. Imagine that someone you don't know will be looking at and reading your album, without the benefit of you being there. I've seen a ton of albums with what my wife calls the 'Dog on Beach' syndrome. That means that there's a picture there on the page, and written next to it is the title, 'Dog on Beach'. So, the question is, who's dog? Why was it there? What's the significance? Was it a special day, or dog? See what I mean. Too many times we have pictures in envelopes, stored in shoe boxes, hidden in closets, that unless we're there (or the original photographer is there) to narrate them, they become just pictures with no story. When making your albums, use just enough pictures to tell the story.
Elements of the story, as they relate to scrapbooking and archiving photos: Pictures, written words, and some basic embellishment through paper and/or stickers. Some of the best pages I've ever seen, are the simplest.
As for the mechanics of things... my wife was a Creative Memories consultant, so we tend to use their materials. But, what you want to be sure of, no matter what you get, is that it is acid and lignen free. Most stuff sold in scrapbooking supply stores is that way, but just check to be sure. They also have adhesives that are 'archival quality' too, and I would recommend those.
If you have a Creative Memories consultant, or scrapbooking store in your area, I would contact them and find out when they might be having some basic classes. I feel it's always good to go at least once, and get the foundation information.
Oh, and a note on why I'm so passionate about this. Most scrapbooking is done by women. In fact, my wife is awesome at it! I've gone to scrapbooking events, where I'm the only man in a room of over 150 women... all of us creating albums! My reason for doing it though, is not to try to break into a 'secret society', but because Disney is my passion, and I've done a fairly good job of infecting my kids. When I'm gone, I want my daughters to have my thoughts, my feelings, my stories to keep with them forever. Too often, the Dad's side of the story never gets told... and I firmly believe that we have just as much of a story to tell, and reason to leave a legacy!
Scrapbooking is not just about cataloging and organizing photos. It's about bringing them to life, and telling a story. It's also about archiving memories... especially memories that only you may have. Once you're gone, no one will know why that picture of the dog on the beach was special... unless you write it down, and preserve it.
I hope some of this has helped... and please feel free to ask any other questions!

I love scrapbooking..altho I'm about 40 years and 10 trips behind right now!!
Forunatly..(or maybe not) one of our daughters is a CM consultant...
We love to have family crops..and it's helped a bit as we don't have to have more than one set of 'toys' and can share stuff.
The trick is to have enough space to spread out!

Thanks for all the info Rhinodad :) I am currently working on my Disney book sand like Beth I am about 40 trips behind. My DH loves to go shopping with me for supplies but has yet to sit and crop with me . I will have to show him your post. I think this is going to be a great place to come to ask some questions or get some suggestionsthe seems to be a lot of knowledgable scrappers! And Rhinodad can be our own resident male scrapping guru! |

My photos are sorted chronologically. I try to get them into regular albums right away, or at least stacked into a photo box. Then when I go to do a scrapbook I can sort them by date, occasion, theme, whatever.
And when I first put them in regular albums I've been trying to caption them, so when (and if!) I get to putting them in a scrapbook I have a start to my journaling, and if I never get them into a scrapbook at least the words are there! |

So what is everyone working on right now?
I have a continueing Disney book that I'm calling my educational project in that it's the first one I've attemtped. It's kind of in a holding pattern though as it's garden time here in Michigan and I'm taking pics like crazy and picking and choosing for the upcoming Garden Journal.
So, what story does your current book project tell?

Okay, I just checked online and while I didn't find the deal you posted about I did see they have lots of the Generations line of storage and transport items (carry bags, cropper keepers and such) really reasonable.
Me thinks I'd best stay away from there for a bit.

A couple notes:
I have found the digital camera is quite an asset to my scrapbooking. I develop the pics I want to work on in the order I want to work on them.
I have 3 albums going at a time... ours, Samantha's and Sydney's
I have found the ck lettering CD to be a big help as I am a gal with messy handwriting. (I can't even trace well :(
Right now I am working on Sam's book. I am working on our trip to WDW in April. After that, I will develop Syd's birthday pics and some dance camp pics and start on all three books again (never ending cycle!)
