Since being thoroughly embarrassed after asking what eating at the "Y" was, I hesitate to ask this, but what the heck are Beaver Tails? |

While I've not actually had one, I was under the impression it was a lot like what we can get at fairs and carnivals around here that we call 'Elephant Ears' Kind of a fried sweet pancake that you can cover with something gooey and yummy (cherries, chocolate sauce-I like apple pie filling) and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Am I close?

They are a round, flat piece of fried dough, as described above. You can put sugar, or fruit or whatever on them. They used to be better when they were made fresh for each guest, but now they're kinda cold and rubbery. I don't like 'em anymore. If you're still curious, there's a stand in front of the Canada Pavilion. Personally, I'd rather have a funnel cake (still made fresh) over at the American Pavilion. Wear a light color, as the powdered sugar will get all over you! ;-) |

I am always happy to provide a little amusement:D For someone 52 years old, it's incredible how innocent ;) I am.
Anywho, what you are all describing is what we call Indian Fry Bread-delicious! |

Close...darker but same basic concept, fluffy though. (the one I just had at the fair was sort of flat, don't know if that's normal)
My daughter had the apple cinn. one and I had the chocolate/maple one. Mine was good the first few bites but the chocolate/maple got pretty sweet. I ended up liking hers better.
What we did was we didn't sit down and eat one day at Epcot, we went from country to country getting something and splitting it between the 3 of us so we could taste it all. Mexico my kids had to have the (oh shoot, all the DL people shoot me now, what are those cinnamon things called?)
then in China we tried an egg roll, in Norway we had an apple pastry thing, in Japan I think it was the ice thing (can you tell I've forgotten the names?), don't think we had anything in Italy since I'm married to an Italian and we eat that stuff all the time, France we got some pastry, hit the ice cream kiosk in the America, England I had to get the fish and chips to go (mom died an english citizen 6 years ago in 7 days)and some tea, Canada we had the Beaver Tails. I think we had the best time that day.
If they are served cold now, see if they will make you one fresh. Never hurts to ask. There was a long line when we got ours because she was making them as we ordered. Much better warm.
