I don't know how to "quote";
I don't know how to get an avatar;
I don't know how to put in smiley faces;
I don't know how to make the little personal quote that appears at the bottom of a post.
I must be a ludite.
Help! Please!

Quoting is easy. Across the top of the message you want to quote, there are three little goldy-brown boxes. If you hold your mouse over them but don't click, a little box whill pop up near the mouse to tell you what they are for. One of them is Quote, one is Edit and I forget what the third one is - maybe Delete.
Avatars and signature files can be set up in your Profile for this site. On the main page of this site, somewhere at the top, it says Profile and that's where you set these things up.
For the sig, you can just type in text. For the avatar, you have to put in the URL to the picture. There are some folks here who have loaded lots of disney images on their personal websites and they can help you make one too - I think TnDizNut is one of them. Also, there are plenty other sites out there that are just pages and pages of avatars. Someone here will post some URLs for you, I'm sure.
Smileys are like you do them in text, and it somehow magically behind the scenes gets transformed into a picture. I think there's a URL around here for that too. If I find it, I'll post it to this thread.
Have Fun! |

Here is a link to avatars. http://www.myconaut.com/jk/avatars/avatars.html
Now, you have to save it to your PC, and you do that by right clicking on the picture and choosing save as.
Then you need to upload it somewhere, so you can link to it. Ahnlara has kindly offered to let folks upload them to her site. Here is a link to the Computer Doodles page at her site, where you can learn to upload, etc.

Once the picture is uploaded, you again right click on it, but choose Properties this time. You will see the web address for the picture there. You copy that, and then come back here. At the top of the first page here, you will see where to click to update your profile. Once there, scroll down, and you will see where you enter the web address of your avatar.

I'll take it! Sugarfree is the only kind I want:)
Feel free to upload an avatar on the <a href="http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/aspplay/Default.asp?cookieCheck=568901832">Computer Doodle Forum</a> at Our Laughing Place to use here:)
You can reply with quotes by clicking on the first little box at top of each message (took me a month to figure it out; >)
