If I were still living in Southern Oregon, I'd be up on Mt Shasta right now, sitting in Panther Meadow and singing songs of thanks and basking in the bliss of Her energies...

Here in Central Florida, I have the sky instead of the mountains. I need a good tree to climb today:)

It's a clear night on Long Island, so I've got excellent viewing conditions for our Lady. Also, I've got three, count 'em, THREE huge moonflowers blooming on the patio! For some reason, mine tend to bloom only one at a time, even with an organic bloom booster.

Anyone got a personal ceremony they want to share? or should we take that to PM? ; )

merry meet and blessed be,

Oh, Tink! Three moonflowers... How LOVELY! My ceremonies vary... last month, I did a Native American pipe ceremony and sweat lodge in the mountains of Idaho (very meaningful for me). When I lived in Oregon, I always went to Mt Shasta. When I lived near the ocean, I put myself on a beach and/or in Her currents.

Here, in Central Florida, I haven't found my Nature connection yet (except for the Sky and being with Dancer Blossoms) so today I wrote... and wrote... and wrote... and wrote some more. Tonight I'm doing a cyber circle by moderating a chat at Our Laughing Place; >)

Takin' it to the net, how cool! Me, I set myself up with lots of candles and smudge sticks outside, and some personal objects that are of significance to me. Also set out a feast, usually fruits, cheese, some type of wheat, to represent abundance. Not skyclad, but as close to it as weather and modesty permit (I do have neighbors who, if they are looking out their 2nd story window, have an unobstructed view of my patio!). I have a fire also, either in the barbeque or I just use the candles. Then I write my letter to the One. Sometime it's a "my cup runneth over" letter of gratitude and sometimes it's a "shake my fist at the sky" type of letter. Then I burn it and have my feast.

How long have you been in Central Florida? I love Florida, but I need to live near a natural water source with beach! I'd like to live there sometime, but I'd be headed toward the Gulf coast. Also, I've spent some time on Sanibel, which is really a spirit renewing experience. I highly advise it!

I am Catholic, and we have a ceremony that is actaully similar to what you are describing. We have a Pennence service. In this service we gather in the Church, and there is a big urn right in the middle of the Church. There are readings, and the priest gives a homily. Then there is a fire lit in the urn. Everyone is given a paper and pencil to write with, has time for silent prayers and relflection, and then can write a letter of sorts. It can be any number of things, from a list of what you feel your sins are, to a letter to God. You then take the paper, and put it into the urn, and burn it. It is supposed to mean that you are getting rid of your sins, by burning them. You then have the option of going to Confession with the priest, or not. It is a beautiful ceremony.

I am one who believes that as long as you live a good life, and follow your heart, whatever religion, or lack of religion, that you choose to have in your life is good.

Tink *~*~* Hi Francine,

La Luna is beautiful over Long Island this evening.

I am actually a Catholic too, albeit fallen away (I've got issues with the way women are not allowed to be full clergy in the RC - among other issues, but that's the biggie).

There is a good reason why my private ceremony sounds like the Pennance service - I remembered it from my childhood and adapted it to suit my needs! Who knows - there are many ancient pagan traditions that were adapted by the RC, so this might have been one of them!

I have spent many years studying lots of different religious and spiritual disciplines. I take what speaks to me into my heart and soul, and I leave the rest in the book.

The only thing I miss about the Church is singing in the choir. When you were describing it in another thread last week, I became a bit wistful. I used to do a fair amount of paid solo work here on Long Island, in a variety of churches (Methodist, Episcopal, RC, Congregational, etc.). The best thing in any church is the Christmas Eve services, with everything candlelit, sacred and mysterious with smoky incense.

My favorite service is Easter Eve, the evening Mass. It is always just after sunset, Saturday night. The church is dark when you arrive, and silent, even filled with people. The service starts with a flame outside the church. The priest lights the Paschal candle, and enters the church with it, and slowly the church lights up with candle light. Then there are lots and lots of reading, usually 7. Each reading is accompanied by a responsorial psalm, and it is an honor to be chosen to sing one of them.

After all the readings are done, the lights come on, and we sing 'Alleluia!'

Now during the season of Lent, Catholics are not allowed to sing Alleluia, or the Gloria. The Gloria is a regular part of the Mass. It is at this special service that the Glroia is sung for the first time on Easter. Oh man, when we sing it for the first time, it sends chills through you. And singing Alleluia for the first time is even more powerful!

Singing is a powerful way to praise. Have you thought about incorporating into your own service?

Actually, no I haven't! Somehow all the hymns and masses that I know from organized religion don't seem to fit. I have lots of Native American and other world spiritual music in my collection, but I've never tried to sing it - would sound funny coming from an opera singer! It would have to be something from Enya or Loreena McKennitt or someone like that - celtic and mysterious!

I moved to "oceanside" as soon as I was an adult and lived up and down the west coast and in Hawaii until we moved to Central Florida in May 2001. We've lived in Celebration since then and, as much as LOVE living in Disney, I feel I will reconnect with Nature energies again when I have more trees around me. We are moving next month onto a couple of acres just north of Orlando and I am looking forward to hugging big trees again:)

I've been to Sanibel Island and I LOVE it! It was the very first place where I experienced with my body, mind, heart, and soul feeling "All Is Well"

Your ceremony sounds beautiful! When I lived in Seattle, I gathered with a group of friends every full moon for a similar ceremony. It would be a wonderful thing to share such a beautiful ritual again:) We would do lots of singing, too.

I did the most amazing shelling while I was down there - I was surprised, because summer is not supposed to be the best shelling season there (winter is), but there had been several storms out to sea while I was there, and treasures were washed up on shore. Amazing treasures! Whelks, fighter conchs, lots and lots of cockles in pretty yellows and browns, tiny snails. I came home with an impressive collection, and I've got to get to an antique shop to buy some old glass jars to display them.

Sounds like an adventure! However, I live in a town that has four, count 'em, FOUR antique shops! I just need to schedule some time to go into town and go a-browsing.

I sure hope not. This is a bad, bad time for me to have Mercury in retrograde. I used to keep track of it better, but this one slipped right by me and there are big decisions going on...creeps me out. I need a spell, but is there one strong enough to outdo Mercury in retrograde? I'm afraid not.

"The Faeries of the Universe are always conspiring to my best interest. No matter who discombobulated current processes seem, it's for the recalibration of an even better experience." Write this down three times every morning and twirl until you giggle.... VERY potent invocation:)
