We were at the Michaelmas Festival at the Biltmore Estate this past weekend, to see the flower display and to see a performance of St. George and the Dragon. While we were wandering around the gardens, I saw some jugglers performing for a group of kids, so I sent my five year old over to watch them. It turned out we were interrupting a publicity photo shoot, but then the photographer wanted to get some pictures of Grace with the rest of the kids. After they were done, the photographer asked me if Grace would mind staying to have her picture taken by herself, surrounded by flowers. Grace, of course, loved the idea of having her picture taken, and she posed for a bunch of shots. So now her picture will be in Biltmore's advertising for Michaelmas next year!

After the photographer was done with Grace, we went over to the tent to see St. George and the Dragon. When it came time for the performers to choose a "fair maiden" for St. George to rescue, they chose Grace. She got to wear a cape and sit on a throne. It was really cute and she had a great time.

How fun!!! I'm jealous! I love spending time surrounded by flowers, especially if there isn't weeding involved.

Let us know if there's a way for us to view the pictures at some point-as in a website or something. I'd love to see them.

Great story! Right place, right time, right face!

But weren't they like almost a month late for Michaelmas? I thought that was September 29th (feast of St. Michael the Archangel)????

I have Michaelmas daisies growing in a big tub on my patio. They start blooming at the end of August and are in full swing by end of September.

The photographer said she would send me slides that I can have developed (does that sound right? I'm photography deficient), so I'm sure my husband will be posting them on our website. I'll post a link when they're up.

They start the festival at the end of September and it runs through the end of October. Got to bring in those tourist dollars!
