Posted 10-20-02 06:34 PM CG'ers-- :-)
I've been out of the loop for several days now thanks to a certain infamous shot for a certain disease so have been so sick but had to keep on painting the house and getting it ready for new carpet this week while the weather stays nice and warm---we need to move before Christmas.
Talked with a friend of mine and I told her that I like some of the tv commerical jingles such as:
"Winterfresh gum, cool cool"
Twix candy bar commercial
and all those latest jingles and she told me that there were some good ones when we were kids such as "Plop plop! Oh what a relief", Coco Cola christmas music, "Doublemint gum! Double your pleasure", and etc. I wonder if there is an website that has those classic jingles so asking you guys about it and what was your favorite jingles? I guess I have 30+ years to catch up on everything.....soundwise.
One more question: How did that Spear gal make a fortune on that limited voice? Sorry for being so picky about it but everytime I hear that voice, it kinda grates on my nerves--don't know why. However, Faith Hill's voice is totally amazing and she has incredible singing range. I even listened to Snow White's singing and hated it! So, that makes me picky...picky....picky...
Off to bed----DH says he's going to sit on my head if I don't lie down asap.... gee---I married a boot camp sargent wanna-be.

Posted 10-20-02 07:52 PM I'm with ya Janie - I love Faith Hill's voice - very powerful and full of feeling, not sure about Brit but I don't think she got where she is on her vocal merits, lol. I'm gonna look into that jingle thing too. There is one for Big Red gum that sticks in my head from years ago...
"that Big red freshness lasts right through it
your fresh breath goes on and on, while you chew it
say good bye a little longer
make it last a little longer
give your breath long lasting freshness
with Big Red..."
Man, I hate that jingle - it just sticks in your head
until you actually feel your brain rotting... sorry
to all those who thanks to me now have that song in
their head too
It must be so amazing to experience all these sounds,
songs, etc. - I really enjoy reading your posts about
the lawn mower on the gravel, etc
I'm always looking fot the latest installment
I'll let ya know if I come across any websites too.
{hugs}

Posted 10-20-02 09:19 PM Hey Janie
The fact that both Spears' and Snow White's singing voices make you cringe is an indication of your fine musical ear! Spears can't sing worth a damn, but lord can that girl dance! Ever see her? She works hard! As for Snow, must have been the dress, or those 7 cute little guys she hangs out with.

Posted 10-21-02 09:49 AM Wow a jingle junkie.
Oddly enough there was a time when Britney could sing. She gave that up for the more profitable profession she's in now. (Okay okay, that wasn't meant to sound mean...I meant Entertainer!) ...Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...life is but a dream

Posted 10-22-02 10:40 PM Thank you so much for sharing the website links and your favorite commerical jingles. I had a chance to listen to them all last night---at 2 am and for the quiet words of support because I was worried that you guys would think I'm deranged for checking each and every sound out.
I got the chance to (whispering so DH won't hear me) grind up some broken glass in the sink disposal and I even threw in a spoon for a good measure. What a way to set an example to my kids when they see me do this. I even had to bribe my oldest daughter in not telling her dad on me. YIPES! :-) Blackmailing ain't cheap at all. Janie

More cool stuff. Wind chimes. My favorites are the ones with the long brass 'pipes'. The bigger the pipes the deeper and richer the sound.
I feel in love with the sound of the buoy bells in Maine. Late at night when it's quiet I could hear the one out on the bay near where we stayed. It's a soothing sound listening it it ring as the waters of the bay gentle rock it, the fog both muffling and carrying it's sound. Sigh.
I have the Boothbay Harbor bell on my balcony.
Here's a site where you can hear what they sound like.

Posted 10-23-02 08:51 AM Janie, you are helping us appreciate all the little sounds we take for granted. You're going through an auditory childhood, LOL, and it's fun to experience new things with you. ...Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...life is but a dream

(blushing bright red) I'll keep my enthusiasim for
sounds under control for now so I won't scare anybody
off. My DH calls it "Janie's midlife sound crisis"
and the poor thing jumps every time I go off to inspect
sounds. My hearing skills are getting better and better
and my brain has started to sort out the sounds but
the background noises throws me off every time so
that bothers me because I want to be involved in conversations
in noisy places such as talking with my kids on the
rides, eating at WDW restaurants, talking with other
Disney members at the upcoming meets, and etc.
On the bright side, I bought a brand new vacuum called "Wind tunnel". Ya know-- the fancy gadget where the stuff gets to spin around in a plastic container? Well, I (whispering again) vacuumed the marbles with that nifty hose. Oh what a marvahlous thing to do and hear.
Uh...Peggo...why are you looking at me like that?

Posted 10-24-02 09:25 AM Just don't blow out that implant with an overload. There's a lot of noise coming from a vacuum that can damage anyone's ears. I really am enjoying your adventures! ...Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...life is but a dream
