Anyone here familiar with Memphis, TN? My kids and I are going to an event at the Pyramid and trying to find a close hotel since it will be late at night going back/forth from the Pyramid arena.

Do not, do not, do not stay at the downtown Comfort Inn! If you can afford it, stay at the Peabody. Eat barbeque at Corky's. Don't miss B.B. King's on Beale Street and meet the unofficial "mayor" of Beale Street. The Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King was killed is inspirational and thought-provoking. And whatever you do, do not, do not, do not stay at the downtown Comfort Inn!

The only hints I have from the website are some 1/4 mile from the Pyramid. I think on Union or First, second street. I did see a Comfort Inn downtown on the website also a Holiday Inn. At this point, safety would be our first concern having to go back to the hotel around 11pm so price is ??? (can't say it's not an issue but nothing over $300).

I checked the Peabody and it's about $250-300 a night. Across the street is the Radisson for $125 a night. The Radisson was rather rude on the phone when I asked how far they were from the Pyramid. I was also looking at the Best Western Benchmark and a Marriott. What I'm truely interested is in someplace safe and easy to get to/from the Pyramid since we will be driving after dark back to the hotel. Next phone call I make, I think I'm going to ask about valet parking. It's just me and the kids.

A little birdie in my head tells me I shouldn't stay there LOL
Marriot is closer than the Radisson but I'm not sure is staying closer means safer.
