I think so. Almost definitely. I saw some pics from Leeds (in England) where they had played the previous weekend and, while his hair was long, I don't think it was "voluminous" enough to get that kind of rasta braid done.
I also thought at the VMA's he sounded like poo doo until the last 5 minutes of the show. He kept fiddling with his monitor, so I'm wondering if the sound was messed up. I heard the stuff from Leeds, and Japan just prior, and he sounded LOTS better!
I've heard rumors of a tour in the NE US to start sometime in late Oct, early Nov. Here's hoping! "To save a lot of time and foolish pride, I say what's on my mind"

I saw a pic that looked like it was from some arrest or something. He looked very very thin on top. Shoot, ten yrs ago his hair was really thin. I'm not sure it wasn't a wig.
I agree on the sound part too. It took him awhile to get warmed up but once he did, he settled in pretty well. Now, this whole Buckethead thing...man, that guy is a bit strange. King Unca Bubba Lord DisneyTex

Axl has ALWAYS had very thin, fine hair and a bit of a receeding hairline (hence, the bandannas and hats he wears to cover it). That's why I think the rasta doo was extensions.
Buckethead is A BIT strange? That's being nice. C'mon, the guy wears a KFC bucket and a geisha mask...that's more than a BIT strange. I do like his style though. He's not Slash, but his stuff sounds pretty good. He's not as much of a "finesse" player as Slash was, and he's nowhere nears the blues guitarist Slash was, he's more of a power chord, art-style guitarist. It'll be interesting to see how his style fits into the new stuff...he does a pretty good job mimicing the old stuff, though. I really like Tommy Stintson's base line on all 3 songs at the VMA's, but some of his tour work was just OK. Duff was a hell of a lot better basist. Brain on drums was not Matt Sorum, but was a damn site better than Steven Adler. I really like Matt's power on the drums... The other guitarist (Robin Finck?) was barely visible, and his rythm stuff was neither Izzy (the best) nor Gilby (mediocre). It'll work, but I wasn't impressed.

Yes, I was being kind.
Just making sure he doesn't have realtives lurking
about. I really don't know much about this guy. I
hear he has been mainly a session musician.

Nothing will
replace Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy and Steve... nothing...
I'll just keep
on playing my out dated Appetite for Destruction tape
and remember the good ol' days...

How long as he been in the studio working on this ONE album? There is no way it could justify that much time!

EIGHT years, I believe...you're right. There is NO
WAY he can justify it..unless the album is absolutely
phe-freaking-nominal. Then, who the heck cares if
it took 8 years!

Hmmm, that sounds strangely familiar. I, too, was a long haired metal guy (I played..and still play occasionally..lead guitar) who then wised up, finished college, and became a computer programmer, now Sr. Systems Analyst/Software Developer. Hey, I've been wrong before
but part of the appeal of GnR was always the raw appeal
of good old RnR. If it's even close to Appetite or
Illusions, I'll be happy.
But, how can you work on an album for eight yrs and not have it sound "polished" and calculated? The guy is good, hell bordering on genius, but without a massive change in direction of the music, I'm thinking the critics will hammer him. I'm not sure anything could live up to the expectations. Are we talking about Axl here? Um, cuz I don't think
a studio would be waiting around for 8 yrs for him
to finish it, lol! They'd be like - finish up and
pay us or get out, man. Unless he's had financing
this long too - that alone would be a miracle

He's done a lot of the financing himself, and with Geffen's sale to interscope, Neither label really waited all THAT long, or had other things to worry about. But it has, in fact, been 8 LONG years since they announced work on a new album. There's been a complete lineup change (with the exception of Axl and Dizzy), plus a couple MORE member changes at specific positions, copyright hold ups, false starts, producer changes, management changes, etc, etc, etc, etc.... We'll see...Some of the stuff I've heard has been pretty good (Madagascar), and some has been utter crapola (Cockroach Soup). Hopefully, they manage to recapture some of the GnR magic...but I have my doubts. Still, I'll go see em in concert, just to hear the old stuff. That song zooms me back to being a teenager every time I hear it I can still play that video clearly in my head - Axl swinging the mic around, etc. Does MTV even play videos anymore? lol!

Dang, Dallas is as close to they get to me. I doubt
I'll make the trip. Maybe some good reviews could
change my mind on that. I'm afraid buckethead might
give me nightmares.

I got MSG tix last weekend, and they're pretty good seats. Lower level, somewhat near the stage. However, today I was able to get tickets to the Hartford Civic Center...8th row, floor, section 1...!! I'm completely stoked for this show!! I can't wait! "To save a lot of time and foolish pride, I say what's on my mind"

Posted 10-07-02 08:56 AM How old is she? I don't know what the crowds will be like now, but, the crowds were pretty "rough" back in the 80's and 90's when I saw them....but who knows. All those long haired rowdy fans could have done the same thing I did..traded the ripped t's and long hair for boring banker hair and 3 piece suits!

She will be 21 in a few days. I swear, I don't know where she gets her rebelious nature.
Back in the day, (1974-80)I worked security for Concerts West. They handled about 75% of the concerts in Houston-Dallas. It was a great gig. All thier core security people were from a local Black Belt academy. All these guys were about 5'6" and could mess you up before you knew you were even in trouble. And they lived to mess somebody up. They didn't want any part of the stage area because it was too visable. The bosses wanted some "big guys" strictly for presence. The best part of that was "visable" meant more or less on stage and around the stage. Man, I had some great times and saw almost all of the biggies at the time. Most of them from on stage.
Sorry, you brought up some memories and I got lost
there for a minute ,
but yep, I've seen it all at concerts and her going
to some can cause concern. Of course, I always play
this up when Aerosmith tours. That way I can tell
her she can't go without me.
Her and my Mom are going to see Paul McCartney on the 20th here in Houston, and Mom and Dad went to see Jimmy Buffet somewhere in Wisconsin this past August. Concert going is in her blood!

Posted 10-08-02 09:58 AM 21? Eh, let her go. She'll be fine! Of course, if you feel the need to finagle a ticket out of her, purely to insure her safety of course, I think that would be a good idea (wink, wink).
