What a really cool idea! I was searching for tips on www.bettycrocker.com on how to freeze cakes (I want to make a chocolate cake, but only want to keep 1/2) and I came across this cute cake when I was doing a search:

One of these days I'm going to figure out how to get one of those round, circular baking pans and make this!

OOPS! Sorry, Crank!

I typcially don't go there and I was just wondering to myself where to put this: It wasn't an Outback type thing, yet it wasn't a DISney type thing either.

Besides, I thought the recipe forum was just for Disney recipes anyway. (Yeah, yeah....I'm reaching.)

I'll c/p this over there.

You can use a pyrex mixing bowl to get the rounded shape. It works pretty good!

This would be a cute cake for a little girl's birthday or a garden party or something like that.

I have several round Pyrex bowls, but I'm a little worried about them breaking due to the heat in the oven for that long a period of time. Are you sure they'd stand up to that? Hmm....wonder if I can do some research on the web and find out.

Thanks for the idea, Fan!

Pyrex will work just fine, LL. In fact, I use pyrex custard cups when I make popovers, and they start out at 450º for the first 20 mintues, then the oven gets turned down to 350º.

Thanks, Francine! My mother's birthday is in March so I thought I'd do this little ladybug for her. She's crazy about ladybugs so I think she'd like this cake. (However, my ladybug is going to be an integrated cake since her favorite is chocolate instead of white) I'll just have to make the frosting EXTRA thick so the chocolate part won't show through.

LL do you know about the ladybug release at Disney?
You should do it and bring home a souvenir box for her!

I'm not sure, but I think that's what I read. I'll have to do some research.
