Someone though it would be a good time to get his first teeth. This was not even close to being on my radar.

Posted 01-23-03 02:49 PM Oh dear, teething is no fun. But, on the bright side, it would be something that shows Andy is catching up!
One thing you can do is rub the area that appears sore with a cold, clean spoon. You can do the same thing with your finger. Teething rings are also good to have around, and you can chill those as well. Any cold foods that he can tolerate also might help, like applesauce. Baby Orajel isn't bad to have around, but it really is only a quick fix. If Andy got real uncomfortable a little tylenol will help, too. Of course, check with your doctor before giving him anything over the counter. To be honest, the thing that worked the best for Mari was my finger!
Mari always ran a low grade fever just before the tooth would break through. At the same time as that she always got diarhhea for a day or two.
I hope the little guy feels better real quick!

I'm not sure about giving the finger to little people so young. Probably not a very nice thing to do to a little peanut....heh heh heh, of course I'm joking. Finger CHEWING works great.
Diaper rash was always worse around teething time too.
And oh wait, did you say you didn't see this coming?
Hm...yeah, ya usually don't see teething coming and very often you have NO clue that their gonna hurl vomit 3 feet across the dining room table before it happens either.
Ain't parenting FUN???

We always used earplugs and turned the TV up louder. Just kidding. Kinda!

Posted 01-23-03 08:17 PM I agree, for a little guy the cold hard teething rin gs are very soothing. Also the finger. There's usually one of them handy at all times. ...Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...life is but a dream

Posted 01-23-03 09:35 PM No, breastfeeding lasted two days. Pumping ended in October, and we ran out of milk earlier this month.
One of the things about a NICU is, they don't let you leave until the child can eat. Most are either tube fed or IV fed in the beginning, so we (she) started to breastfeed, but it would have meant living at the hospital, which was not an option. We moved to a bottle quicly, which was a good thing because he liked it better. Since I am a stay-at-home dad, I knew it was important for him to be ont he bottle for another reason...
