Posted 01-21-03 09:59 AM I had received a letter from my doctor's office that if I didn't pay the $4.20 (now $24.20 with billing charges LOL) that they would drop me as a patient. I had inside and outside ultra sounds done, biopsies, etc...had no idea what I owed the $4.20 for and wish they'd told me when I was paying my co payment at the time.
Well, seems Blue Cross changed from their brochure, I now have to pay 10% of lab or xrays at a prefered doctor and they upped the co payment and the employee cost. Blue Cross actually has me owing them $28 but the doctor is saying $4.20 so who knows. I hate trying to figure out all this, charge, patient payment, adjustment, then there's a $3+ adjustment for who knows what added at the end of that day.
So I owe this $4.20 I guess but it ticks me off that they never told me when I was standing there paying my next copayment twice! They wait and send me a notice with a $10 billing fee attached LOL
So I owe the money but next time I go, I will ask if I owe any money, to put my balance on the receipt I get.
If she wasn't such a good doctor, I'd switch in a minute cause it does tick me off that they are cancelling me as a patient for $4.20 plus her new group is clear across the city and takes 40 minutes by toll road to get there now.
I'm venting.

Posted 01-21-03 11:23 AM The collections woman from the Mercy group just called back. I was very nice, why do they feel they need to have this rude stern tone? I told her i had no idea that I owed the money and surprised they didn't tell me since I'd been in twice. She said they should have. I told her I would have paid it if they'd told me but now I end up with a $20 billing fee with me having no idea I even owe money. You know when you are leaving the office and they say "you owe $15" (copayment), why not tell me I owe $4.20 more since that makes me assume that's what I owe? She asked me if I got the previous billings and I told her no, just my biopsy results and this. She said, oh...that's from collections so collections and the doctor must have your correct address but regular billing must not. So she's waiving the $20 billing fee THIS TIME she says LOL I told her thank you and I'd make sure next time I pay my copayment I will directly ask to look to see if there is another balance somewhere as that billing fee irks me a little.
That one settled now doing resumes for federal jobs.
