Posted 12-14-02 11:28 AM I am the Catalog Queen. The amount of catalogs I receive in the mail is ridiculous, but I've always been a catalog shopper because I really hate going to the mall, so I guess the word spreads and pretty soon you are getting catalogs from companies you never heard of.
Sometimes my friends and I will get together on a Saturday night and have a Catalog Party. Everyone brings their catalogs for each other to look at. One of my friends recently got one called FemailCreations. In it was a ceramic prayer bowl. It's for burning your prayers, which I think I've mentioned before was one of my full moon rituals.
Not any more! Now I'm burning my prayers every night, and other people's prayers too. I set it up on my hearth with some candles around it. I'm trying to think of something significant to do with the ashes - suggestions?
Anyone who wants to check out FemailCreations, they have a website here:
http:\\www.femailcreations.com
Edited to add: it's not just a site to sell stuff. It's about and for the empowerment of women!

Posted 12-16-02 11:20 PM He he.. It's probably beautiful, and spiritual, but my mind is replaying the Andy Ricter show I just saw where he was the bowl bearer. ...Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...life is but a dream

Posted 12-17-02 01:47 PM From what I've heard and read, there are two thoughts on energy regarding blowing out candles and scattering ashes:
One thought says that you should always snuff the candle, hence you don't scatter the energy. This thinking would probably indicate that you should bury the ashes or use them as compost in your houseplants and garden to keep the energy in the circular.
Another thought says prayers, ashes and blowing out
the candles scatters the energies to the four corners
where they can be heard and answered. So, in this
case, I'd say take your bowl outside and HEAVE HO!!!!
(Not the bowl,
just the ashes...let's don't get carried away!)
Personally, I like the burying part because the ashes will be put to good use as fertilizer and, as the plant grows, so will the good thoughts and prayers. (I also snuff whenever possible instead of blowing)
A whole week of peaceful bliss, beginning with a giggle
and ending with a kiss. |

I like burying ashes to recycle them. But actually anything will do. It's all in the intent. Returning things to the earth directly just has a more satisfying completion feeling. ...Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily...life is but a dream

Posted 12-17-02 08:59 PM I do have a composter, where I dump my fireplace ashes, so I guess the prayer bowl ashes can go there too. However, I also like the visual of letting the wind take them! Either way, they end up in the environment, so I think I will follow whatever urge strikes me at the time I empty the bowl.
BTW, LL - what's your choice of snuffer? Licked fingers, or something fancier? Tink *~*~*
