I have about 10 minutes before my Pineapple Upside-down Cake comes out of the oven so I thought I'd take a little break and tell y'all how happy I am that I found this tip:

A month or so ago, I was reading on one of my homemaker websites about how some women keep spare drip-pans so they can do a "quick switch" in case company comes over. I thought that was a great idea and even took it one step further by finding this parts website: www.repairclinic.com and ordering 4 more drip trays to fit my old tappan gas stove.

When they came, I put the new ones on the stove and soaked, scrubbed, polished and put away the old drip pans to keep for "switching". Well, today (since I'm expecting company tomorrow night) I finally dragged out the "old" drip pans that are now shiney and clean and swapped them out for the "new" drip pans which were starting to become a little soiled.

I'm SO pleased with the results! All I had to do was take up the cast iron pieces, take up the metal pans and throw them into the dishwater, wipe and dry the surface and put everything back together and it looks gorgeous! The beauty of the deal is that I didn't have the cast-iron pieces sitting around cluttering up my counter while I was mixing the cake, the soiled drip pans could soak in the water until I was ready to wash, dry and put them away, and it was so easy!

I highly reccommend this technique to anyone who DOESN'T line their drip pans with aluminum foil. It's superb!
A whole week of peaceful bliss, beginning with a giggle and ending with a kiss.

That's a cool website, thanks for the link! I too never line my drip pans on my stove. I inherited them in rather sad shape when I moved into this house about 4 years ago, and was not successful in getting them 100% shiny clean.

I think I'm buying drip pans today!

Kind of a lot of fun;speaking of shinny drip pans (which I do love..thanks for the hint,LL)
But if you don't like a gazillion e-mail reminders daily, don't sign up or if you do..subscribe to only once daily reminders..
I'm working on clutter control, but do have a shinny sink.

Beth, I signed up for flylady at one time, and signed off at the end of only one week. I have to take it slower than she does, cause my job continues to gorge on my life. But I do have that shiny sink, and recently extended that to shiny bathroom sink. Next upgrade = shiny tub!
