ok I went ahead and d/l zonealarm after I left here last night. I opened all the normal programs I use after installing it so that I could add them as allowed. I have norton antivirus on here so I even ran the update so it would recognize that connection as well. I have had a few windows pop up saying it stopped a connection and went to one of the sites somebody posted on here to do the reverse ip lookup and got this :

You are being scanned to see if there are any trojans planted in your system that could be activated. Your firewall stopped the scanning.

Which zonealarm do you have? Is it the free one? It isn't bad, but really will not give you the protection of a purchased firewall. I used to use the free zonealarm. I was quite surprised when I purchased the Norton firewall, Norton Internet Security, at how many attacks were not being stopped by zonealarm.

I just installed a McKafee firewall on my computer. I wonder if it was just coincidence that I was 'hacked' by someone in Singapore while surfing the BFC site? (McKafee stopped the hack and I sent a report in on the IP address)

Anyone else have this happen to them?

OK, so it's not a coincidence. I just wondered. Nope, no list needed but I'm very glad I installed that firewall!

OK knock it off, Crank! I just got pinged by someone in the great state of Washington, but I'm not sending in a report because I suspect it's YOU!!! LOL!

Whoops! Update: the trace revealed it actually came from Hong Kong and bounced out of Washington, so yer off the hook!

Nope, wasn't me!

Honestly though, most pings are nothing to worry about. You should see my router logs!

It's the sheer number of attempts by a single IP you have to watch out for.

Regarding coincidences, every time I visited the BFC site in the last weekend, I was under repeated and persistent attack from what appeared to be an internet cafe in Hamburg. But I guess I don't have to worry about that any more, what with the Pause4concern page!

Dear TnDizNut

I went to www.psi.com and I see that it is an internet connectivity company. So my theory is that either a customer of theirs or someone in their corporation is a wannabe hacker and knocked on your zone alarm's door.

It is true that the freebie version of zone alarm is not as good as Zone Alarm Pro, which costs all of $40 bucks. It also reminds you when there is a free upgrade to improve the quality of your firewall protection.

Another excellent software product is Black Ice, but I think Zone Alarm Pro is easier to use and understand.
