Ive got an AMD
Athlon xp 2100 processor on a 1st mainboard 266 FSB,
two 256 mb ddr ram chips,and a geforce 4 128 mb ddr
4200 graphics card all hooked up to a 350 w power supply.
I hooked it all up, turned it on, and the cpu fan spun
for a second, the hdd led blinked and thats it.
What happened?

Well, I really
don't think that would be enough information to make
an educated guess.
If the power supply is still making noise, I would replace
the mother board. Or try another fan.

I would try removing everything but what is needed to
start.
You'll need ram, vid card, hdd, processor and fan and,
of course, keyboard and mouse.
You may have tripped the protection. Try unpugging it
for around 30 secs or more and retry.

Thanks guys! We
had the motherboard tested today and it is still good.
Evidently the screws in the case were shorting it out?
We try again tonight. Wish us luck!
