Part 5-Wednesday
There were no wakeup calls and no alarms this morning
by unanimous consent. This day was our day out of “the
world.” I thought I would be ready to leave for a while,
but I found myself wanting to just linger. This was
the first really clear sign that I am a hard case Disney
addict.
We had thought to eat at the food court, but we were
later than usual and the place was packed. We decided
to try something on the way to Sea World. We had an
adequate breakfast at Denny’s and suppressed the compulsion
to look at a newspaper. Election night was last night
and we sure wanted to know what had happened in Oklahoma
politics. We shoved that thought way, way down and left
the Denny’s. I overheard a woman talking to someone
at a little sort of kiosk at the Denny’s about WDW and
tickets. She was clueless and about to waste a whole
lot of money. The person trying to help her was telling
her the truth, but she really didn’t even seem to know
how big WDW is and how much there is to see. It was
like she was thinking she would just take a little drive
past the Biltmore!
Sea World was fun. I loved petting and feeding the stingrays
and the dolphins. The “walk-through” aquariums are wonderful.
We ate at the Anheuser Busch deli for lunch and when
the rest of the crowd went to ride Sea World’s water
ride, “Atlantis,” I went to watch the penguins without
being rushed. I’ve always loved penguins and I collect
all sorts of them (I wish they were real, but I don’t
think they’d like Oklahoma). I went shopping, also undisturbed
and then found the whole crowd at the Krakken. I enjoyed
Sea World and so did the family, but it is in marked
contrast to Disney. Sam kept touching things and saying,
“Is this real?” You almost need to be debriefed before
you leave.
We had dinner reservations for Medieval Times at 8:00.
I had one friend tell me we just had to go there and
another friend who said she had wanted to go and regretted
that she hadn’t. I thought it was pretty interesting.
Sam loved it. I guess SIL and DH rolled their eyes through
the whole thing. It wasn’t good for Molly. While she
felt very natural eating with her fingers, there were
no booster seats, the seats were benches and she was
pretty uncomfortable. My husband later said, (referring
to a luau experience we had on our first trip to Hawaii
when we didn’t know any better) “This reminds me of
Germaine’s luau and it’s just as cheesy.” Obviously
the tour guide can’t win them all!
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons; for
you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
