Did I mention that October 31 - November 14 was our first trip to WDW? I did? Oh, okay.
The cast: Me, Jo Ann, 52 and Nana to Sam and Molly; Paul, 55 and Boppa to Sam and Molly; Becky, 31, Mother to Sam and Molly; Matt, 30, Father to Sam and Molly; Sam, 5; and Molly, 22 Months
"Sure, it's Halloween, but it's also the day we leave for Disney World!"
I had the first part of the week off from work and it's a good thing too. I wasn't even started packing by Tuesday night! My DD and her DH had just moved in with us the week before and the house was in chaos. My SIL is starting a position as manager of his own funeral home when we get back and housing where he is going is very scarce. He starts the new job when we get back and can live at the funeral home, but DD and Sam and Molly are staying with us till housing that is a little less "Haunted Mansion" is found. My SIL is celebrating his last day at the old job by leaving for WDW. He thinks he'll be home by three, but when I arrive home from running errands at 12:30, he is standing at the window watching for me. We call my DH to tell him to get home quickly. We are ready and we want to go. The temperature in Norman, Oklahoma is 53 with a howling wind. It's dark and cloudy and dismal. We can't wait to leave town. DH and SIL pack the van while I try to keep Sam and Molly entertained and DD supervises. When they call us to set the security codes and climb in the van, I can't believe what I'm seeing. The kids are packed in and strapped in their car seats like little Vienna sausages and you can't see out of the back window for all the suitcases and bags stacked to the ceiling. The Boppa and I climb into the Granny section and DD and SIL take over the front seat and the driving. We are out of the driveway at 2:00! Amazing. It's Tyler, Texas for the first night. Three hours into our trek, Sam says, "Nana, I've changed my mind. I want to go to Disney World tonight." We laugh hysterically, but Sam doesn't get it, even after the hours with the US states map and all the 'splaining. We stop early enough that no one is exhausted and we leave the next morning when everyone gets up, which is 6:00., we're all so excited. We set off through east Texas, Louisiana, Missippi and we're making some good time and no one is getting short tempered or "ouchy," so we decide to stray off the AAA TripTik to take a coastal highway through Missippi so DH can see his old Air Force base at Biloxi. I fall into a reminiscent stupor thinking about my AF boyfriend and his wonderful love letters from Biloxi back in 1968. We stop in Mobile, Alabama for the night. The next morning, we're up bright and early again because this is the day we will actually be in Walt Disney World. Sam is excited. Molly is Molly which pretty much means if she's not hungry and is dry, she's happy. What I can't believe is how excited a 30, 31,52 and 55 year old are!

I can't wait to read the rest of the 'First time' report. I am taking newbies this weekend. The 4 yr old has no idea he's going!
