Cast: John, 42, Been there alot for someone from Texas. John the
Smaller, aka "Mini Me," Lover of WDW beyond all other travels.

Plan of the Day: Early Check-in at Old Key West. Epcot for the Eat
Yourself Silly event, and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

We arose around 7:00, got our belongings together, and were off to Old
Key West by 7:30. The hotel was very close to WDW property. We
arrived at OKW, had our name checked at the security gate, and were
greeted with that all important, "Welcome Home." Indeed. My DVC
points are BWV, but we have never stayed there. We love OKW. We love
the quietness. We love the Cast Members. We love the rooms, views,
parking, etc. It is by far our favorite resort.

Check in was very fast. We had our Resort IDs and headed right into
Olivia's for Breakfast. We were greeted with hugs from CMs Lessie and
Wanda who we have known since our first DVC trip in 1994. It is
always great to see them. A couple of others were out sick =0( Will
hopefully catch them in December. After breakfast we were off to
Epcot. This, strangely, is Smaller's favorite park. We walked right
onto Spaceship Earth. Next we were off to Test Track. It was a walk
on, and we were able to stay on for round 2. Test Track was ridden 4
times this trip. John's favorite ride. After Test Track, at John's
insistance we went to Ellen's Energy Bore Me to Tears Ride. Smaller
chastised me for not wanting to ride this, explaining to me the
educational value of the ride...."NERD!!" Okay, we went. Stopped
next at the Health place. Did the dad swap...I am not about to risk
puking as a result of Body Wars. So, John went, and dad went through
the chicken exit to meet him at the other side. We timed things
perfectly and went straight into Cranium Command from Body Wars. I
then drug John out, and he would love to spend alot more time in there
than I am usually willing. Hey, we only have a few days here. We
crossed the park to Imagination with Figment. Still like it, but not
many takers.

By now it was time for me to begin the eating festivities. This was
our first time during Food and Wine, and all I can say is, "Wow!!" We
started at California. Smaller wanted to know why California was a
country. LOL...Beats me. I did not have the tomoato and sourdough
salad. Had the other one with feta. Very good. Way larger portions
than I expected. Next we stopped in at the Canada kiosk. John had
Cheddar Cheese Soup, and I had the maple glazed grilled Salmon.
Excellent. We perused a few more country's offerings along the way,
but had nothing else until France. Mini Me had the Onion Tart, and
gave it 2 thumbs up. I had the Escargot Burgundy, and loved it.
Shocked me. John wouldn't taste it. He said they looked alive just
without the shell. After France, I had the veggie sushi in Japan.
Very nice. We then went to America where John had the Cheesecake. I
had a 6oz Raspberry Ale, but wasn't real fond of it. Our next tasting
was Apple Struedel for John. I had the Gauspacho in Spain. The
"Temp" Spain display was absolutely beautiful. It is set up on either
side of the promenade which is really nice. I then tried the Spiced
Durban Chicken. It was very dry, but okay. At this point we had
reached our limit. We stopped in Norway to ride Maelstrom twice.
2:00PM by now, and a walk on. After Norway, we headed to the car in
order to get a bit of rest for the evening's activities.

We got back to OKW around 4:00 and moved into our studio, 2420. It
was a second floor, corner room, and a great location. John took a
short nap around 5:00 as I moved in. When it came time to put his
costume on for the party, John freaked out. He didn't want to wear a
costume, but at the same time, he was afraid they wouldn't let him
Trick or Treat if he didn't.. I assured him it would be okay, and we
were off for MNSSHP. We are not Halloweeners. In fact, we normally
head to a movie on 10/31. This was fun. We got tons of candy, most
rides were walk ons, though the streets were crowded. We rode almost
everything in MK during the party. We enjoyed the parade from a
bridge behind the Liberty Square Christmas store. Our location was
right across from the bridge the parade crosses. The parade was cute.
We watched the Headless Horseman...pretty non-climatic . Saw
some of the Fireworks. The perimeter display is incredible. Left at
midnight.

It was a great day. We thoroughly enjoyed the Food Fest. The
Halloween party was okay, but I probably wouldn't do it again. The
weather was perfect. Low 70's and clear blue skies. As always it was
great to be "Home" at Old Key West.

Tomorrow:Animal Kingdom, MGM and Epcot for Dinner, and MK for Spectromagic.

EPCOT has always been my daughter's favorite park too. The first time she was there she was almost 3, and it is still her favorite park at 19.

Great report!

FWIW I'm kinda that way with escargot too.

DW loves them but hates spiders. Go figure.
