Just back from 3 nights 4 days at AKL. We checked in approx 10:30am - we got our request for a nonsmoking, king bed - it was a savannah view on Kudu trail. The room wasn't quite ready so we headed off to MK for the 100 Magical Memories Challenge. Crowds were fine - nothing major, but people were around. 5 and 1/2 hours later we were ready to turn in our question book, but the park was closing and we had a PS that night so we turned it in Monday morning.

Saturday we started off at AK - as always it looks crowded here, but wasn't really. We fast passed KS and walked the pangani forest trail while we waited. Lots of animals were out. We headed to TTBaB and then to Primevil Whirl while we waited for Dinosaur FP - at some point we snuck into the 1:45 Tarzan show, but left early as neither of us can stand it. We thought about going to Kali, but neither of us care for that one much either - too wet and too short of a ride. So we headed back to the hotel and freshened up to head off to our PS - we were pretty tired so we took a cab to Poly instead of bussing it - my feet were gone!

We went to MK after that - I don't remember what we did exactly - we stayed for the parade and fireworks - waited an hour afterwards and made it on the 5th bus back to AKL - we've never done that before without an e-night and won't do it again = fairly nightmarish.

Sunday we had planned to go to MGM to see Hunchback before it goes dark, but we got sidetracked at DVC and never made it. We went on over to Epcot and wandered around all afternoon mulling over DVC.

Here's the funny thing - we were dodging an afternoon storm and ran into Innoventions (which we never do, but we had time to kill) and walked into a castmember that we had seen in California at DL last year - it was really funny - we chatted and got our picture taken together. Even funnier was when we darted another storm by going into the other Innoventions pavillion and bumped into her fiance on the Segway! I think they are going to join our drinking trip in January!

We had dinner that night and caught the end of ToD's and watched Illuminations.

Monday we went to MK as it opened - it was pretty busy that day for a Monday, but very manageable. We rode HM since it was opened up that morning and turned in our 100 MMC booklet for our surprise. The HM soundtrack sounded good, and some of the rehabbed effects looked great, but Mde Leota wasn't working and there are still somethings they need to finish up.

Tiffany Towncar was waiting for us right on time as they had been for our arrival and have always been in the past and off we were home.

We really enjoyed AKL - the room was great - good view, spacious, and the staff was great. The pool was fabulous - we spent some time there Sat morning before we went to AK. The parks were pretty easy going - enough people to be fun to watch, but still little to no waits in line.

I save meals for a separate report:

Friday lunch - CHH at MK - good as usual - love the sweet tea
Friday dinner - Jiko - ate at the sous chefs prep area - excellent food, atmosphere and service. We spent some time talking with chef Annette - which was a highlight for us.

Saturday lunch - Pizzafari - a first for us - about what you expect for Disney pizza. The AP lounge was nice - not AC'd, but a nice break for a few minutes. Lots of game if you have kids.

Saturday dinner we opted for 'Ohana (originally planned on Kona) but for whatever reason we went to 'Ohana. It was great as always - wonderful food and server - ate WAY TOO MUCH! Had to waddle over to MK!

Sunday lunch - Rose & Crown - again not planned (were supposed to go to Coral Reef), but its so comfortable on the patio of lunch watching everything around. The food was very good and our server was great - a little nervous, but very nice.

Sunday dinner - Restaurant Marrakesh - another first for us. The food was very good and our server was extremely nice. We thought it was a little loud when the music and belly dancer were going, but it is a beautiful place and we enjoyed it a great deal.

Monday we were supposed to have breakfast at Boma - but we couldn't get up for it! We grabbed something at Mara which was fine. Quick lunch at the airport after that.

If anyone wants specifics of what we ate let me know - I'll be happy to answer any questions!

Isn't it wonderful in September how you can change restaurants on a whim?

So, I'm dying to know . . . did you sign by the palm trees? Shall I say, "Welcome home"? Are you new DVC members?

Also, did you make a special reservation for Jiko's sous chef's area or did you request it when you checked in? I didn't realize you could that there.
