I had requested a late check-out yesterday and was given 1pm for only one of the rooms. So, we were up, showered, packed and had everything in one room right at 11 o'clock. We were a few minutes late for our PS at Boatwright's for breakfast but were seated right away. I told the guys that the banana stuffed french toast was the hot item here. Dale & I both wanted it so we ordered that and the Crecent City french toast and split both of them. David has plain old scrambled eggs. The banana french toast was very yummy. Crescent City was also good. There was one piece of that left so our server kindly wrapped it for me to take on the airplane. I wanted something other than chex snack mix. We finished breakfast and headed back to the room to have Bell Services get our luggage. I thought we had to be there so I did not call before we went down to Boatwright's. Bad move. It is 12:40 and I still have not checked out. Bell Services was there before I managed to get out of the room though. I hustled back to check-out and the line was HUGE! Rut-roh! Tiffany is picking us up at 1:00. I hopped over to the guest services line and told them my ride would be here momentarily and I needed to check out. Wonderful CM said not to worry and she would check me out. That done, I went back to Fulton's. I had realized while packing this morning that my prescription sunglasses had broken. My bad for not putting them in their case, just found an empty pocket in my backpack and put them there. With so much stuff crammed in there last night at MK well, you can guess the rest. So, I need to buy some sunglasses. Even though I don't like Pooh I end up with a pair of sunglasses with him on them. For $8 I was not going to complain. They were only meant to get me through the day. Head outside and our driver is there. Because we were running so late, our luggage was just outside the storage room. We loaded up and were off.
The weather today is absolutely beautiful! Mid-70's with fluffy white clouds. Use curb-side check-in and stay sitting outside in the sunshine and warmth until the very last minute. Head in, through security and get to the gate just as boarding is supposed to start. There is a high pitched screeching coming from one of the security radios in the area. It is VERY annoying! Boarding actually starts about 10 minutes after we arrived. Someone finally came to fix the screeching radio and the entire terminal burst into applause. We boarded and managed to find plenty of room in our overhead storage even though we were among the last to board. Unveventful flight. We are told as we begin initial descent into Chicago that the temperature is 30 degrees with a 50 MPH north wind. No! Take me back! Head to baggage claim and wait FOREVER for baggage to arrive. Not just ours, most of it. The same 6 bags were circling for quite a long time. Head outside to call my limo as instructed. I am told that we have no limo, we are arriving back on Friday. I tell him 'No. You made that mistake on my confirmation and I called to correct it'. When I called to confirm the day before we left I corrected it again. In hindsight, I should have called on NYE to confirm but did not. Not happy and with way too much stuff to grab a cab (I think) we ask the nice cab valet at Midway to call us a taxi van. We wait. And wait. There is none coming so the valet has a cab pull up and we manage to squeeze in. It was an upstart limo company I was using. This was not a good thing for his business. He was just kind of like, sorry, I can get him there in a couple of hours. Yeah, like we want to wait a couple of hours. I was angry, yelled at him. When I called him yesterday I was in a much better mood and there was no problem refunding my money. He recalled changing the 3 to a 1 months ago but when the time arrived, the 3 was more prominent. Anyway, I won't make a stink as he wants to be competitive for the vacation market and I would hate for my bad experience to ruin his chances. I was treated well, got satisfaction so I am happy to leave it at that.
Final thoughts:
-CM were absolutely wonderful. A short time ago one of the antagonists at RADP started a thread about not saying Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays and stuff to CM on 12/25. We were all selfish people and if we would just stay home these CM could be with their families. What did I find? Some of the most cheerful CM's wishing us a Merry Christmas at every turn.
-There were 3 CM who made negative comments about Disney. A bus driver who criticized over the PA the entire ride was the worst. Of course, these 3 stood out and were remembered more than the hundreds who were wonderful the entire trip. Why is that?
-Rain really does clear out the park. On a special day like NYE though, they just go for cover. It was still a sea of yellow on Main Street at midnight on NYE.
-Meeting on-line friends is a lot of fun!
-Finishing my trip report before Janie's (which ended over 2 weeks ago!). Quick, everyone get some water balloons and drop them on Janie's head. I realize I don't have triplets or need to record the sounds of WDW but come on!
-Planning the NEXT trip. Mary

Posted 01-04-03 05:13 PM Loved your trip report, Mary! It was the next best thing to being there. Now . . . could you go help Janie finish hers?
