Cast: Mary, David & Dale
The plan: EMH at MGM. Resort to nap. Epcot.
Unfortunately for David, Dale got up around 4 am to start to get ready to join us for EMH at MGM. It did not occur to David until too late to just come to my room and sleep in the other bed. Oh well. We actually strolled through the MGM gate just after 7 am. Headed right to RnR Coaster. As we were getting fast passes a family entering the que was wondering aloud why we were bothering. Hey, we knew what we were doing! Rode 3 times before heading over to TOT, where we could now get a fast pass except the machine was not working. Rode that 4 times, once on each elevator. There was one new sequence I really did not enjoy, it just did not seem as fun as the others. Picked up that fast pass on the way back to RnR Coaster. It was now just after 8 am as the masses were arriving in the area. 20 minute wait, rode again without fastpass. Came out and jumped in line again. When we came out this time, line was a little bit longer but we waited anyway. Finally used the fast pass on the next ride as the stand-by time was up to 70 minutes. Having our fill of that, we rode TOT as stand by before using our fast passes for a last trip. Were back at Riverside for 2 hour nap before heading over to Epcot at 1pm. When we left MGM last night without seeing Fantasmic we decided that we would stay at Epcot this afternoon until it was time to go to MGM to see it today. We had made late PS for Germany and took our time strolling over there via Canada and UK pavilions. Caught the WS players version of 'A Christmas Carol' and found it very entertaining. Had a nice lunch in Germany where our server was very nice but I don't remember his name (David reminds me that his name was Chris, from Cologne). We were the last people left in his section so we had a long chat with him before leaving. His contract with Disney ends in March and he requested an extension to take him through the busy spring break season so he can earn some extra money to travel north to Canada when he is done here. Seems most of his family is now in Canada. Only his parents and siblings are still in Germany. We gave him our e-mail addresses as he plans to stop through Chicago on his drive. We told him we would be happy to entertain him for a day or two. It seems he would really like to stay in the US and eventually apply for citizenship. His training is in insurance but he says the system is so different here he does not know how to get into that here. As it happens, my brother has a big insurance job so I gave him my address to send me his resume (CV for those who know it that way). I will ask my brother to look it over and offer some tips on what he can do to find his way into his career choice. Anyway, with lunch finally over we spend the rest of the afternoon and evening exploring the World Showcase. David and I can do this forever. Unfortunately, we have spent enough time here that Dale has now become familiar with the smoking areas and keeps disappearing under the guise of getting coffee or going to the men's room. David and I are both pretty frustrated as we are now wasting a LOT of time waiting for Dale to show back up. We both seem to blow at the same time and Dale is informed that we will no longer wait on him. If we get separated, he better have paid attention to how to get home on the bus. With that said, we continue on and finally prepare to head over to MGM. We get there and head over toward Star Tours where we need to pick up a souvenir for a friend who is a Star Wars fan (and hinted loudly that we should get something there). Since it is late, there is a 5 minute wait so we hop on Star Tours. We have an enjoyable flight to the Endor moon with a bunch of rowdy folks. We all scream when appropriate and end up having a GREAT ride. Exit into the gift shop and make our way to Fantasmic. It is now 9:50 and Dale wants to stop for coffee and a smoke. I blow. I told him he can get coffee at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheatre but he only has time for one or the other. This causes David to blow. He says Dale can do whatever he wants and that I should stop telling him what to do. I point out that at least he should wait until we get our seats and that this is the only time we will be seeing this show and you miss a lot by not seeing the beginning. We get our seats, Dale goes off. Obviously, seeing David and I go at each other has some sort of impact as he is back in his seat just as the show starts. Theater was only half full. I'm not a big fan of Fantasmic (will not go out of my way to see it) but I did enjoy it this evening. Maybe it was because I did not sit in the theater for an hour first to make sure I got a seat. Back to Riverside for bed.
