Posted 01-02-03 10:44 AM Cast: Cast for the Journey: John, 42, Old Widowed Man, pushing trip 20
at WDW, DVC member. John the Smaller, 9, now at trip 16.
Resorts: Saturday 12/21: Four Points Lakeside.
12/22-29: Old Key West, Studio
Weather: Well, a perfect day for touring WDW though a bit chilly.
Pet Peeve of the Day: Wall to Wall People, but I guess that is to be expected.
We started a bit late today. Our first stop was to be Magic Kingdom. John had a Pirate's Cruise today, so we planned to hit a couple of attractions, then take the launch over to Grand Floridian. Our first ride was Jungle Cruise. Our skipper was fine, but did her job and stuck 100% to the script. Next we rode Pirates!! We had our own boat. FUN!! After Pirates we went to check out Big Thunder Mtn., and were able to walk on and ride twice.
It was now nearing time to head out(Kind of like a baby) I decided to get two fast passes. I got one for Haunted Mansion, and one for Space Mountain. We then left and caught the launch to Grand Floridian. John had to check in at 9:45 for the 10:00 cruise. They got everyone in Life Vests, and put bandanas on their heads. John did this cruise before and loved it. Before boarding the boat, they had to have partners. Whelp...John ended up babysitting a 3 year old that was apparently sailing on their own. Cruise ruined, no interest in ever doing it again. Oh well. Threw that money away. I kind of think that if they are going to let children that young do this, they need to require that there be another kid with them. Just irks me that John had to do this. Fortunately, he being close to the greatest kid in the world, he handled it well.
He was off until 12:00, so I was off. They warned us that we must have our receipt to pick up the kids. Amazing how many parents were threatening to throw the receipt away. Yes, me too. So, they come back. Kid swears you are their parent, no receipt...Are they really going to keep the kid?? What would they do with them?? Train them to be animatronics?? Anyway, I did get John back receipt free. I had it...they didn't ask for it.
While he was off searching for buried treasure...A bag full of Oriental Trading Company fodder, I went to ride Haunted Mansion. While there I found a Hidden Donald I had been told about. It is on the chair sitting at the hallway where the ghost is carrying the candlabra. After this I went for a bite to eat. Of course I stopped at Columbia Harbour house, but this time I had albacor tuna sandwich. I found my spot upstairs, and enjoyed a relaxing lunch. John was having lunch on the cruise. They get PB and J, juice, and a few other things. After lunch I decided to skip Space Mountain, and looked in the shops a bit before leaving to get John.
The pirates were back right on time. I wanted to go to MGM. John wanted to go back to the room. It was the first of many arguments we would have over this. He had hit his wall. I guess Christmas day was a wipeout, and the rest of the week he just wanted to stay in the room and watch TV. We did go to Studios. However, it was so crowded that we did Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and left. We took a bit of a break, then went to Animal Kingdom. Again, too crowded to do anything, we left. We spent the evening at Epcot, and were back early.
It is extremely crowded. We are accomplishing quite a bit by arriving at the parks prior to opening. This has generally gotten us in a bit early, and the crowds are very managable until around 11:00. After that, forget it.
Friday...MGM, Visit Beach Club Villas, meet with a DVC advisor(I need more points like I need a hole in my head.) Evening at MGM. John

I guess if you stand around too long 'deciding' which
kid is yours, and mumbling under your breath, "Should
I get a boy or girl this time?", they ask you for
your receipt.
[Edited by Robin] I toss my cookies for Disney.
I wonder what inspired this new Disney T-shirt? "I'm right. You're wrong. Any Questions?"
