OK DanK lets examine my posts that you
took issue with:
quote:

Oh boy, here i go with a
controversial point of view, but all the people who make death
threats are not necessrily filled with "hate" there could be many
motivations including "hate" especially in an online forum that
people would make direct, implied, figurative, or indirect death
threats.

Ok, no where in this statement did i condone, encourage,
applaud, or try to justify death threats. As i have stated numerous
times, i find these threats deplorable and yes threatening someone
with force is condiser terroristic. In the previous threads about
the topic I was merely discussing what constitutes a death threat.
Thats all. AGAIN I have stated countless times that the threat KUH
received was and is unexcusable na dcan not be justified in any
manner especially when you put it in the context of a breakfast. In
the post that you quoted me on, i was merely stating that "hate" is
not always the motivating factor in such threats that occur on the
internet. Other motivations and causes that come to mind are
attention seekers, flamers, trolls, parody, intimidation, cries for
help, mental illness, etc.
Dont take this one step further
and even suggest that I condone this sort of activity. One does not
have to condone an activity to be engaged in a discussion about it.
You were quick to jump all over my quoted statement and misconstrue
my position to other readers that may not have read the other
threads in their entire context but you neglected to make mention of
the countless times i stated that I do not condone nor agree with
making death threats to another person. I never attempted to draw a
distinction between "bad" or "good" threats. My only point was that
threats can be implied, direct, figurative, indirect, etc. This does
not say one threat is "OK" to make while another is "BAD". I never
tried to justify or excuse the threat made toward KUH. In fact i
stated that if i was in his position i might have done the same
thing. Show me where i suggested that we take "compassion" on those
who make death threats.
DanK i am truly offended that you
have suggested that I condone death threats and try to justify the
people who make such threats. Bottom line, i found the whole
discussion regarding death threats compelling and wanted to learn
what others thought consituted a threat. So, please do not imply to
others that i support this type of behavior. Again, one does not
have to believe and support something in order to have a rational,
intelligent conversation about it. I would never threaten someone,
encourage this action, justify, or condone death threats. To suggest
that i would based on my posts is absurd.

Well discernment, I owe you an apology.
I just went back and read all of your posts on the whole issue and
indeed, I misinterpreted your post that I quoted and overreacted
based on what I ASSUMED you meant, and in so doing I did end up
overstating my case to the point that I unfairly misrepresented your
position. I am truly sorry. It is clear to me now that you DID NOT
attempt to justify or excuse ANY type of death threats, or urge
compassion for those who made them. I was wrong to say that you did.
Next time I will read (and reread) more carefully before responding.
I still think that we may have something of a difference of
opinion about the significance of what you call "implied, figurative
or indirect threats." And I don't think I understand at this point
why you think it is important to distinguish between different types
of motivation for making threats. But those are more subtle issues
than the black and white way I (mis)interpreted your quote. You have
indeed consistently stated that you did not approve or condone of
any such behavior by anybody. I let my irYKWtion and distress about
this whole topic get the better of me. I was not justified in
getting up on my high righteous indignation horse. Please believe
that it was not my intention to smear you. Again, I am truly
sorry. | |
