What is your favorite middle-of-the-night activity?
Normally, mine would be sleeping
but....
durn hot flashes keep waking me to tell me "SWEAT! I wanna see SWEAT even if it's like a fridge in the bedroom!"
So here I sit. Wide awake. Cold, but sweating. Ain't growing old grand? :D |

Now now Karma, get it right.
While I haven't quite reached this stage of life. (Just turned 40 so my day is coming I'm sure) Those near to me assure me these are not 'hot flashes' they are POWER SURGES!!
Hang in there! |

I like to get up around 3am after I have a dream that I'm swimming, and empty my bladder. That's fun! Last night I stepped on a rawhide chew-toy that we bought Murphy the Wonder Dog for Christmas. I'm sure she laid it in my path on purpose, and I intend to get even. No 'Animal Planet' for a week! |

I used to have the same problem. With medication, though, I've become extremely regular - every morning at 5:30!
Unfortunately I don't get up until 6:00...:D |

Yes, power surges it is! That being said, those particular surges I could do without. Unfortunately, I find myself surging on a regular basis. There are things you can do to take some control, though, and make life more comfortable.
I am a night owl. Generally, I go to sleep somewhere around 1:30 or so. One of my favorite things to do is to watch TV at night. I love it when I find something good on the Travel channel, or the History channel. Sometimes A&E has something good, too.

Iffen ya mean drugs/meds no can do.
I can't take any type of hormones...so I make due with just dealing with each SURGE as it happens.
Man, calling it a surge really sounds empowering, doesn't it? :D |

There are lots of different herbal supplements that help, too. Have you looked into alternative treatments? Particularly, adding soy to your diet can help.
I only recently started on birth control pills to help relieve peri-menapause symptoms. I was determined I wouldn't do it, but now am so glad I did. It has made life much easier.

I have heard there are some concerns with taking soy as well for people who are at risk of cancer. You need to discuss the benefits/risks of soy with your doctor as well. |

Power surges is my name.
Cross-stitch is my game.
I can't say much for chemical menopause--lupron depot--but I know one thing: If it wasn't for cross-stitch, I would be very very insane.
I found a cross-stitch pattern at The Art of Disney store with Tinkerbell floating over the castle on a dark blue background. Got Tinkerbell finished and now working on the castle.
I'm going to get my TR finished before my date with "Mack the Knife" thanks to a freind who sent me a sound clip of that song to cheer me up.
toodles! |

Ah...there's a pet peeve of mine. I don't mind having to get up in the middle of the night, but I hate having to get up close to 'wake up time', because you by the time you finally get back into a comfy sleep the damn alarm goes off. Grrrr |

And it would explain why sometimes those who get too close at the wrong time get 'shocks'. Hee hee
You need to get a t-shirt that says 'Warning, High Voltage'. :) |

I end up getting back up, sitting in front of the computer and talking to Americans as they are still awake ;) |

To give us an idea, hnt, when it's noon (Eastern) here what time is it there? |
|

| Lunarlady |
I think hnt is about 5 hours ahead of us EST. Right now it's 2:10pm so I'm presuming it's about 7:10pm in Merry Old England.
Of course, all my calculations go right out the window when daylight savings time is here. |

Yep, I am 5 hours ahead of EST all year, as we have daylight savings too - but usually a week before you guys ....and no, I have no idea why :lol |
|
|
| Tink *~*~* |
That week where we have the 6 hour difference between NY and London really messes with my business schedule - somehow, I never know when it's coming. I should mark it in my Palm Pilot as a recurring event, but I never remember to do that either. |

But now you can just ask me and its a whole lot easier ;) |

Isn't cross stitching so tranqualizing? I almost finished a very complicated picture of the Castle. I should have limited the colors more, but what the heck. |
