------------------------------------------------------------Can someone explain to me what exactly the Readers Clubhouse (now Magic Alley) is complaining about? I was offline from July through November! What did these certain people accuse them of doing? Their website legal info is very, very vague. It sounds like they're a little nutty.

Tiggergirl,

How did you find your way to this website?

I did a Google search for Readers Clubhouse discussion forum, and I found Outback. I read it for awhile, and then went to the main page. I read for awhile, and decided to register. I am ergistered at other Disney discussion forums. Why do you ask? Am I not welcome?

P.S. I bought the YKW book last Spring, and had accessed Readers Clubhouse before going on vacation in June. When I just tried to access Readers Clubhouse today, I fought this rant and rave about people attacking them. It seems to be common knowledge among several Disney fans about what happened, but I don't know, and their website is too vague.

Why would you even presume to not be welcome? I was just curious how someone who had been offline so long would find their way to this site.

It may be vague because nothing actually happened to them. The FBI has denied involvement in any investigation. The lawyer for their publishing company has denied any kind of victimization or legal involvement, etc.

You should ask them. We have asked, asked for contacts etc.

Most people here are happy to let it lie, since RCH has ceased the active propoganda.

Pull up a chair and stay.

I am not the welcoming committee but I am sure they will be along soon.

Just keep reading the site and all will be made clear. You may have to go back into the archives, though.

Hello tiggergirl,

well, if you've been offline that long, you missed a lot. It would truly take too long to explain to you and would end up becoming an epic novel to rival War and Peace!

My best suggestion is to go back to google and read RADP,starting circa April 2003, then come back here and start at the beginning of the archives for Out Back.

I guess it was the fact that, rather than answer my question, or say "I don't know", you asked me how I had found this website.

I was too busy with school to be fooling around on the internet with Disney stuff, from mid-summer right up until Christmas. Also, I had just been to Disney, so I had had enough for awhile.

It's not that unusual for people to be out of touch for awhile, and it doesn't make them suddenly Web incompetent. I can still find my way around! Ha!

Right now I'm on school break. So I'm surfing the old Disney sites. And I noticed some controversy, which always interests me. I'm just curious.

If you have an answer to this question, let me know. Thanks!

If you are truly interested, seek and ye shall find. Personally, I think things have died down and I'm not particularly interested in waking up that sleeping dog at this point in time.

Others may feel differently and (to echo poohlover) I'm sure they'll be along sooner or later. You're welcome to pull up a chair and do the research if you want, tiggergirl.

Frankly, I was just looking for a one-sentence answer, not the whole story. Like, "Someone accused someone of plagiarism." "Someone accused them of lying about something." Very simple.

It sounds, though, like nobody knows.

I am just not interested enough, nor do I have the time, to read the archives. Thanks anyway!

I am going to sign off and go do something I should have been doing, like finish painting my living room!

I'd rather be happy than right.

Whoa...that is one ODD thread! Oh well--back to the business of dickering over ducks!

Yeah, I interpret "It sounds though like nobody knows" as the gauntlet being thrown down. One of us was supposed to get all huffy, like, "oh, I do too know!" and then post a diatribe about how RCH done so and so wrong, etc.

And, let's face it, the duck and music icon issues are far more important than all that!

I think we should give tiggergirl the benefit of the doubt here. If you go to google, and do a search, links to this forum come up. I can see where, especially if someone hasn't been around, you might be pretty curious.

Perhaps she doesn't understand that we just really don't want to travel that path again. There really isn't one sentence that can sum up what happened.

I took a look over there. There's a few odd comments on the homepage like 'cyberslime free', but not much else. On the other hand it only took 3 clicks to find the hate page. Anyone exploring the site could easily find it.

I don't think Tiggergirl came over to start trouble, I think she just figured we could give her the short version of what happened.

Let me give it a try....the 'really' short version.

They (RCH) did something against Disney policy (brokering in PS's for CRT) and Others (posters on various other Disney boards) felt it was unfair practice.

The Others talked about it on their boards, and some questioned the BFC (Breakfast Club board) at the RCH.

They got upset the Others dared to challenge them.

The Others got frustrated and were persistant.

They got nasty. The Others started getting nasty in response. They got upped nasty to vulgar.

An all out flame war broke out.

Disney changed their policy to require deposits for PS's and the Others eventually lost interest and dropped the subject.

After a few months of being forgotten by the Others, the management at the RCH (aka YKW) started up ranting about the Others again. Then there website went 'poof'. (I forget if the rant or the 'poof' came first.) They accused the Others of destroying their site. YKW said the Others made death threats they said law enforcement told them to take down their site to protect their members.

The Others accused YKW of having totally going off the deep end.

Common Ground was born as a place for the Others and RCH members to speak freely with each other. (During this time most of the RCH members were left without a cyber home.) It's a mix of Others, RCH members and got curious about the 'train wreck'.

YKW started naming some of the Others as being felons. YKW claimed there was some conspiracy, and accused other Disney board owners, the Orlando Sentinel and Disney themselves as being part of some plot to destroy them.

YKW's friends started come to Common Ground to pick fights.

YKW's rants continued. FBI investigation. All day chat when the 'felons' are arrested, yadda yadda yadda.

Folks at CG banded together. Some found their computers were being hacked. The Others and RCH folks at the CG started becoming friends.

Then YKW started spending more time rebuilding their site, and the rants died down. CG started discussing more fun topics and enjoyed a quiet holiday season.

How's that? Feel free to point out my boo-boo's. This has been a whirlwind year, and I could still be a bit dizzy.

I toss my cookies for Disney.

You forgot the part where YKW wanted to wear Cranks hat and boots and join Ed in the corner, and send Francine, LL & Fab to Devils Island. I thought that was cool!
Did you see me at EPCOT on New Years Eve? I was wearing a yellow poncho...

Yes...a very nice reader's digest version. We should remember this thread and if someone else comes in wanting the research (and is too lazy to do the footwork themselves) we could c/p Robin's summary!

Please DO remember this thread...cuz I'm still reading the archives trying to figure out who is who, what is what and how did such and such happen.

It's not that people are too lazy to do the footwork either, the problem is that there is SO MUCH info out there and none of it is in one place. It's very scattered and it truly is hard to get a bead on some of this stuff.

So that's MY story and I'm sticking to it.

Hey Karma! It's pretty slow around here except for that damn duck. If you find anything amusing in the archives send it back up top for a 'Best of' series.
