Topic: Christmas Rained Out! Return to archive

Tink *~*~* Well, just home from Mom's and not going to do any more gallavanting tonight. My friends on the North Shore will just have to wait for another night to get their Christmas presents.

NYC and western Long Island are actually getting snow, but this far out on the Island, it is a buffet of precipitation styles. We're getting a potpourri of rain/sleet/snow/teeny tiny ice balls here, with high winds that make driving miserable. I love my friends, but like I said, they can wait until this storm passes to get their Christmas gifts!

Hope all you Common Groundlings out there are safe and warm and snug and not doing any unnecessary driving tonight!

Tink *~*~* Dab, it started snowing earnestly around 6:30 PM. It is now 11:20 PM, and we've got a solid three inches. Most reports indicate that it will stop at 4 inches.

Hey, for Long Island, this is a major storm!

Karma We're incredibly dry here and snowless as well. We've usually got many feet of snow by now and I know the ski areas are suffering a bit because of the lack of precip.
I don't suppose anyone knows an Indian Snow Dance do they? LOL

*get it? Indian Rain Dance/Indian Snow Dance?*

Ugh..sorrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Been following this on TV, Tink, looks like you're in for some HEAVY weather.

To all the folks experiencing rotten weather, please drive carefully and for gosh sakes drive defensively!! Janie could be out there!:D

Lunarlady According to my ATC website, that part of NY is still having problems:

Due to WEATHER, WIND/SINGLE RWY OPERATION, departure traffic destined to La Guardia Airport, New York, NY (LGA) is currently experiencing delays averaging 1 hour and 31 minutes, with some flights receiving as much as 3 hours and 18 minutes delay.

Due to WEATHER, LOW CIGS/RAIN, departure traffic destined to San Francisco International Airport, San Francisco, CA (SFO) is currently experiencing delays averaging 47 minutes, with some flights receiving as much as 2 hours and 8 minutes delay.

This information was last updated: Thu Dec 26 13:11:05 2002 EST

I don't remember when Ajax is leaving, but if you need to look for delays, here's the link:

Oh sure! Now I'm a bad influence!

I'll have you know that I left Tink's reference to "a solid three inches" totally alone when I could have used it against somebody!

Yeesh...
