Dab Hope you all are having a wonderful day leading up to the holidays. It was snowing this morning.
I am going nuts here! the AF base supervisors called to tell everyone to stay home so I have my 19 year old daughter, my son who is home from school holidays and my soon to be ex husband here. Everyone is either fighting over the tv's or the computer so I went and made cookies.
Tried different ones this year, lemon ones with lemon icing, cinnamon butter cookies and 2 normal ones, peanut butter and sugar. Dividing some up and giving some to neighbors on a tray. My exercise place is closed for a week and I will sit here and eat them all if I don't give some away.
My local mailman gets out of his jeep at the road and knocks on my door with 2 packages from CA...15 minutes later the UPS man sits on the road in his truck and honks for us to come to him LOL This guy was not getting out in the snow with one package : )
The roads are suppose to be icy tomorrow (no one told us about the black ice here when we transfered) so everyone will probably all be in the house tomorrow too and driving me NUTS!
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday whichever one you may be celebrating.

Ajax Be careful, Dab. A few years back my wife's cousin lost her husband when he hit a patch of 'Black Ice' on a curve, and rocketed off into a big tree. He was on his way to the store after supper to buy cigarettes.
I'd rather drive in six inches of snow.

Me too, I tell everyone here that I can drive in the Sierras with chains and 5 feet of snow but the black ice here is awful! I know Samogram is probably use to it but it scares the life out of me.

fantayzya I don't believe it's possible to get used to black ice actually. It's horrible.

I understand about the cookie thing. I made my first attempt at gingerbread today, well, batter yesterday, baked em today. Not bad for a first attempt if I do say so myself. Already did banket, church windows and classic sugar cookies. Debating golf balls, but not feeling quite that motivated.

We're actually excited, it's the first year ever we'll have family festivities on Christmas Eve at my folks and then my boys will be here all day on Christmas Day. Usually they have to rush to Detroit and don't get time to have Christmas at home. We're talking about going to see the Lion King at the IMAX for our family time, before they leave early the next morning till New Years Day.

Hope everyone has a wonderful, and safe holiday!

Dab This ticks me off......
My soon to be ex doesn't have to go to work again today, he works swings and today was the day shift so everyone is done by 4pm....well, since it snowed more and there is ice on the roads, the banner says, Tinker AFB..related personnel only have to come in.
My 19 year old daughter who has a $6.50/hr job at the BX on the base is still required to drive on the ice.
Can't risk the life driving in to work on the planes going to war but hey, risk your life for the shoppers LOL
If they can get there to shop, why can't they get there to work on the planes? I hate AAFES. I'm worried about my daughter who is driving in an hour. Ooooo Barry Manilow is on the Morning Show!

Hey, I like one song that Englebert sang....After the Loving, I'm still in love with you........

My daughter made it into work. Hopefully they will let her off early so she's off when it's still a little light outside. I know 6-8" of snow isn't alot for you all in Michigan or Chicago but here it kills the roads because they don't have the snow removal stuff plus it melts so fast that the ice underneath is the problem. I can do the snow and slosh but that ice scares me to no end!

I hope all of you are done with shopping and able to relax for the holidays. I'm almost at that point. Cleaned and getting ready to make a ham for dinner tonight, turkey and left over ham tomorrow. I haven't wrapped a single gift yet though. My 19 year old daughter tells me last night, why don't you just put them in the plastic grocery bags..we don't care if they are wrapped LOL My 13 year old son wants them wrapped though so while watching Trading Spaces today I will be wrapping.
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

We use a lot of gift bags for the family - I have some with the nametags still on from years previous - just fill them up again for the same person, add a little tissue paper. Of course the "good" gifts are wrapped tight, ribbon'ed and Bow'ed and put in plastic garbage bags and hidden carefully. The gift bags are for the more predictable gifts - socks, pj's, belts, gloves.
