Okay, I'll admit, I'm incredibly naive. But how the heck can you have an inappropriate 'smiley'? Even Dsorcerer told me I can call him an 'a**hole' to his face as long as I'm smiling when I say it. I assumed that cancels out the nastiness of the word actually lol. So, if these lil thangs were in fact 'smileys' wouldn't that theory hold true there too? But in some questionable situations, a 'leer' can often be mistaken for a 'smile' and vice versa.

Is there something called a 'leery'? and LL were you postin' em?

Cheer up friend, I was likin' your new 'tude' it looked good on you! Don't lose it, for anyone!

Hey Crank - if someone gets thrown off this board, does that mean they are "Common Grounded"?

Merry Christmas!

Lunar Lady, before you rank and rave about what "they" did to you, why don't you give your friends here a link to the site where Jellybuns posted her remarks?

if you're so full of peace and good will, why are you dragging the fight to this forum?

here's the link.

I judge people on what they say on this BB I'm on and don't go running to different boards to see what others say but thanks for the link. If that's the way DIS is, I won't be going back.
I'm not a prude but when people talk like they do over and over on different threads, it's really very unattractive.
I can understand calling someone an asshole or bitch but if certain words continue from people through different threads about different people, well???
BTW, could you all get this fact straight...this is not a YKW spin off board.
...I believe she posts at that spinoff site from YKW's called "Common Ground". ....

I honestly don't take anyone seriously who continually uses these words over and over. I have no idea what happened over there and don't care since it didn't happen here and I would never have read your board had you not sent a link however....anyone who uses Twa* and Cun* are vile in my book, sorry but those are 2 disgusting words that I don't tolerate. It shows nothing but lowering themself when they use those words. If you want to send a link, send one where people are talking rationally, not like little 2 year olds that found out they can cuss and use bad words oooooooo
It makes them look just as silly and not proving a point whatsoever.

Thanks for the support, Dab. I'll occassionally let a twa* or cun* go once in awhile, but I think I counted up to 20 twa*'s before I finally gave up keeping track.

I totally agree with you about repetative verbage and, at this time since they've found me over here, I'm going to stand back for a little while and allow them to demonstrate their character at will. There's very little I can say about them that won't be made apparent by their own words.

I will challenge my fellow CG'ers to this, however: note the similarities between what is destined to transpire on this board regarding me and past 'friends' and what has already happened to Francine, Fantayzya and other "friends" of a group that's gone sour.

Wait. Watch. Be aware. Thank you.
I'd rather be happy than right.

Most of the posters here seem fairly intelligent and sensitive, so let's see what they think of the following scenario.

Poster1: I normally don't do this, but I was wondering if I could get some prayer/pixie dust/good thoughts regarding a situation happening to me and my family. You see my wife has been sick lately, and at first we thought it was the flu or something else minor, but when it continued over a period of time we thought it would be a good idea to go to the doctor. It wasn't the flu. All preliminary tests indicate that my wife has cancer.

Poster2:

So you make the call. But I seriously doubt that if YKW or YKW2 or Tombo came here and posted something like "I won't be fighting you anymore because my spouse/child has cancer", that there would be very many here that would be callous and hateful enough to think that it was funny. Especially since it seems there are a few folks here that have first hand experience with cancer. So if making light of someone with a terminal illness is cool in your books, then you hve someone to look up to.

Hi SmileAwhile,
What I think of the scenario you described: It's not the response I would make to poster 1. If I were the moderator of the forum, I'd contact poster 2 and ask them to edit their post out respect for poster 1's feelings. I wouldn't ban poster 2, and I would do my best to give poster 2 the benefit of the doubt. We all make mistakes, and most of us get second chances way more often than once in our Lifetimes. I'd do my best to give poster 2 the opportunity to make adjustments/new choices once the feeback is given.

I don't think I'd follow poster 2 to other forums and attempt to foment bad feelings towards poster 2, either. To me, that's pretty much on the same 'inappropriate (imho)' continuum as poster 2's response to poster 1. I'm not the moderator of this forum though, so I'll just let say as a participant that I look forward to getting to know you better in reference to a different topic.

Don't try to smack some guilt trip on me because I posted on some words that were said over and over and over on different threads and not just one about LL. If someone used those two words here over and over I would have a problem with it also.
Sorry to disallusion you but if anyone including Tombo etc mentioned that someone in their family may have cancer I would not make light out of it so please, reread what I wrote and quit with the guilt trip. Sorry but to me, no matter how angry you are with someone it does not justify using those two words. And let me point out that they were used in threads on other people also so they must be commonly used words over there?

To TheShadowKnows and SmileAWhile -

You have attempted to bring an argument over here from another board. You have posted quotations and links to other places in an effort to discredit a member of Common Ground.

We're not really interested in LL's behavior elsewhere, only in her behavior here.

To both of you I say - come on in, have a good visit here. But please don't bring in any dramas - there is "no more room at the inn".

Thank you.

Smile Awhile and TheShadowKnows are morons.

Of all days to go looking to stir up shit, they decide to pick Christmas. Can't people just be nice to each other, for at least ONE day?

LL, hang in there. I checked out that link, and damn! Those people make the stuff that's gone on here look like Sunday School! Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke, I say!

I'm behind you, and I bet I'm not the only one!

P.S. So, what's with this picture being discussed in the other thread?

Picture? Do you mean of you? I tried finding a pic of you when it was mentioned a while ago, but I couldn't. Is that the pic you were talking about? (The one that looks like Porthos on "The Three Musketeers"?)

Oh, I'm sorry I thought arguments from other boards were the rule of thumb here, unless Readersclubhouse/Magicalley actually is part of this site. Or maybe there is an exclusivity clause in the posting guidlines that only arguments and links from RC/MA can be used to show peoples true colors.

Speaking of humor in terminal illness...isn't it a good idea to KEEP your humor if you HAVE a terminal illness?

I'll have to research it some more because it's not something I dwell on, but from all the news stories and prior research I've done, alot of the data points to having a sense of humor and good attitude if you're going to pull through and have a good recovery.

I could be wrong. I've been wrong before. But, IMO, having humor and perspective has ALWAYS helped me out in this life. I get down once in awhile (especially during the silly season) but, at heart, I'm pretty much a happy-go-lucky person who sees the glass as FULL, FULL!! IT'S FULL DARNIT!!

I want to say so much more and copy/paste so much more but right now I'm exercising some self control...something the gang at the other site rarely attempts to use.

Am hoping that I can continue having some self control...sometimes it's hard though when you see lies being told and such hateful words being used and aimed at individual people.

Just here to try to be supportive of LL. She is not an evil woman by any means, contrary to what those maniacs want everyone to think.

Not sure it's cool to be bringing stuff from site to site though......so I'd rather just be here and play if that's ok.

Without knowing how the poster meant it to be taken, nor any of the history behind the comment I can't judge. It sounds like something that needs to be worked out by the two people involved.

As for morbid humor, many would probably not understand my friend Barbara and I. When we first became friends back in High School her paternal grandmother passed away on Christmas Eve. Last year her father died on Christmas. A few weeks later we were chatting on the phone, and I informed her that when we get old, I plan to call her every hour on Christmas and ask her, "Are you still there?"

It's so much easier to remember those who are gone, with a smile than a tear.

There is a big difference between using humor to uplift someones spirit and using jabs to inflict further pain on someone who has just found out that a loved one may die very soon. Are you trying to say that you posted the "poor pitiful you" smiley in an attempt to uplift, and aid toward a speedy recovery, and thet you had no ill will or malice whatsoever? And that your good intentions were horribly misconstrued and now there is a witch hunt against an innocent who was only trying to help. If so, I guess we'll have to rely on your honesty and general aura of goodwill to garner your true intentions.

Smile person, you need to stop this.
Your gang has absolutely no boundaries. Your group has been reported to several sites dedicated to fighting hate. Your group laughs and finds it comical. I find it creepy as heck.
You've gone after anyone and everyone. You are picking and poking at this scab. You've gone after children and your behavior is scary, to be honest.
Please stop.

SmileAwhile,

This board was begun to give those who had been silenced via banning on RCH a place to speak their minds.

It was not brought to light so that people who ban and/or support banning can chase the banished all over the freakin' internet.

That's called stalking.

You are waaaay off. I'm not the member of any "gang". Can you say the same? Your threats of reporting sites to ant-hate groups has absolutely no bearing on me whatsover since I have never posted at any of the afore-mentioned/linked sites. But your conspiracy-hate rhetoric does sound remotely similar to YKW's rantings. Maybe you should contact Bill Stanton, I hear he's a good "advisor". And just for the record, I have known of LunarLady since way back in her WackyWitch days, so you Johnny-come-latelys need a history lesson or two.

And Karma Person, your "stop because I say so" holier-than-thou routine holds no water with me.

Ohhh ok, so no one would be allowed to come here and say that they supported the banning on RCH and give their reasons why because that would be stalking. Makes you wonder who really was behind the mass deleting that went on here. So only those offering a different side to the story are allowed to be silenced, and only those banned from other sies are allowed to not be accountable. I see.

For the historically challenged among you LunarLady made the topic her history by posting this:
quote:
In the past week, I've gotten kicked off the DIS for posting inappropriate smileys and have had another board call me cunt, twat, bitch, waste of humanity, most horrible person in the history of the world, I should die and do the world a favor for 4 days in a row (and still counting, although they've found other targets finally).

And LunarLady made her off board "beef" the topic by copy/pasting this post from another board:

Reply Re: crazypagan has been banned from this board

Well, well, well......CrazyPagan/LunarLady has just reported on Common Ground that she was banned from the DIS for posting "inappropriate smilies". Everyone is stumped and is asking her how can you be banned for that. She hasn't replied yet.

She also said she was banned from another board(any guesses which board?)....and they are all calling her "bad names"(Disclaimer...since it's Christmas Eve I won;t repeat THOSE words) [/quote]

So I would have to say that past and present issues with LL are specifically the topic as introduced by LL herself.
