Why do you bother copying the post that others have started? So what if they pull it? Some get w a y to vulgar to keep online anyway.

Oh-oh. I know this isn't going to go over very well.
I'll address deleting posts.
When the originator (not from here) deletes the post she also deletes all the replies from that thread.
It simply isn't fair to the folks that posted replies.
Some posts do get vulgar. This is the reason for the warning in the forum discription.

Yes, but doesn't the original poster have some certain "guide" over what they should pull or not. So what if others posted. If it not relating to the topic and starts into an all and all out brawl ... why bother keeping it up? For the mudslinging?

IMO, if a known deleter posts something, I think it should ALWAYS be copied and then all the responses posted on the copy instead of the original. If the OP doesn't like how the conversation is going, that's too bad. It's a public BB and sometimes people just get vulgar.
If vulgarities bother you, then you might not want to be on a board where it might happen. But, unless Crank wants to make adjustments where baiting threads can't be deleted, this is the only way I feel we're going to be able to keep a record of just how nasty some people can be.
Lately it's typical for someone like Howard to come in, make some off-color remarks, people respond to his remarks, then he deletes the thread and denies having made the post to begin with.
If we only post to the copies, then there's no deniability on Howard's part that he wasn't here stirring things up.
Anyway, that's just my 2 cents worth.

AFAIK it's never anybody from here who deletes the posts. Perhaps it's the HighTech software we use that's confusing.
"Deb/LoriBeth" could have edited her post to remove the text but she chose not to. She killed the post to hide her, uh, oopsie-daisey...

Not deleting the first post in a thread and thereby deleting the entire thread, is mentioned in the Posting Guidelines at the top of the Out Back board.

The point is that the original poster should be the only one that can edit or delete their own posts. (with the exceptions put forth.
If the person that started the thread deletes it and all of the responses go with it, effectively, that is giving the right to the original poster to delete others posts without their approval.
What is the point of constantly posting here and constantly deleteing those posts?

Basically, the threads that have been deleted have been threads begun by someone looking only to stir up trouble. They think they can post anything they want, and then later deny it. They could also cut and paste a reply, which, when taken out of context, can make the person replying look bad. This was similar to something that was routinely done on RCH - the original post was deleted, replies were left up, making it look like someone was attacking, when they may very well have been defending themselves.
Copying the thread to a new thread means that anyone reading can see for themselves the sequence of posts.
It keeps us honest.
