Hey, nothing at all wrong with the overflow rooms from SOG or SOG for that matter.

Is SoG as nice as I understand it to be?
Also, can you explain the way the charges work? I can't seem to find any info on it. If you can, thanks!

I haven't stayed at the "real" SoG--only the CR, but here is a link to the room rates: http://www.armymwr.com/shades/room_rates3.html
and a link to who is eligible to stay at SoG: http://www.armymwr.com/shades/eligibility.htm
Is that what you were asking for? I hope so! |

I sold Timex Sinclairs. I hated the keyboard. I had VIC20s and C64s. I worked on my first computer 31 years ago.

Shoot, same here!
What I fail to understand though, is that LoriBeth is registered but hasn't posted since 20SEP.
Why would somebody fake a name, make an off topic post and post it in the incorrect forum? THEN, when caught, haul a** to delete them?
Normally I'm not a cynic but that doesn't sound so "innocent" to me.
Perhaps time will tell. |

You know Deb, I really and truly don't think anyone is jealous of what you have. You have earned your money, and you have a right to spend it as you see fit. What I object so strongly to is your constant need to flaunt what you have.
I am an RN and my DH is in the Army. Our combined gross income per year is significantly less than what you spend solely at WDW per year (you know--6 figures). Are we lesser people because we can only afford a deluxe resort if the cost is subsidized by the military? Are we poor, jealous people if we will never, ever be able to afford 10 computers for our family (you have 5 for the two of you, that means we'd need 10 for our family of four)? I think not. Our jobs may not be as lucrative as that of a "manufacturing executive", but we know we are making an significant contribution to bettering peoples' lives every single day.
So, though at times I feel like I would love to engage in the massively conspicuous consumption you are so fond of, the reality is that DH and I would have to switch to less emotionally fulfilling professions. Although we are both under 30, we have already learned the lesson that it's not what you have, it's what you are able to give of yourself that makes you truly happy.
So, the next time you are at WDW look for us on the monorail. We'll be those frightfully poor folks that get off at the CR to head back to their SoG subsidized NGW room. We'll probably be wearing clothes we bought at Kohl's and carrying a Wal-Mart backpack. But guess what? We'll be having a great time--"pissy dust" will do that for you!
Wow!
I'm speechless. Well said! |

It goes by your grade either military rank or DoD pay grade.
We paid $89 a night. He is an E-6 and a WG11 (retired military and now civilian DoD). I'm not on the right screen name but I'll get the link when I switch over.
I loved SOG. We were there for 10 nights and paid $890.
My pictures were on Deb's page. I don't know if I will like it as much when they get the extension built but we'll see.
It doesn't have pictures of Mickey in the rooms, doesn't have Mickey soap, no mickey wake up calls however, you can buy a coke in the gift shop for $1 LOL Hey, it was hard going across the street to the gift shops at the GF or Poly and paying $2.50 plus tax after paying a dollar! The bar/grill was exellent we thought and many people recommended it so it must be ok to others also. We would get a large 3 topping pizza for $9.99 Hamburger, fries and a coke for $5
What I liked was that it wasn't large. Within 2 minutes you were walking distance to everything from the bar/grill to the pools to the bus. We had a room that overlooked the pool with a patio which had a table and 2 chairs. We walked maybe 10 yards to the pool? It was nice to sit right at your sliding glass window, have a drink and watch the kids swim. The animals would come up to you to try to get food which was sorta nice.
For $89 a night there were 2 queen beds, a round dining table (not the small things in a Holiday Inn), 2 dining chairs, a love seat that pulled out into a bed, a dresser with 4 drawers, another dresser with the shelf for the tv, that had 3 more drawers, the closet had metal shelves on one end for more stuff (we put our breakfast stuff there, probably 4 shelves?) Bathroom we had (heard they were 50/50 on this) had the outside long counter with sinks, coffee pot (which you don't have to ask for), coffee packets, cups...seperate room for the bathtub and facilities. There was a laundry upstairs, very clean with a tv to watch. (important when you are bored watching the clothes wash). The downside is, no Mickey stuff and no slides in the pool. The have 2 pools, kid/adult pool and a seperate wading pool for toddlers right there and then the adult pool on the other side with a hot tub.
Some people like the transportation, some don't. We did. They have their schedule and stick to it so that's nice to know when to be somewhere. Their buses have cushioned seats which can become important when it's hot outside and you are wearing shorts! (found that out on the Disney uncushioned seats-that hurt!) One bus leaves on the hour to the TTC, one bus leaves at 20 after I believe to BB,MGM and AK. You can walk 10 minutes to the Poly to grab the monorail or TTC if you want. It's a nice walk. When we were at the AK, MGM or wherever and if we missed our bus, instead of waiting for an hour, we'd just hop a bus going either to the TTC, GF,Poly etc. Epcot, you need to go to TTC to catch the monorail..MK, TTC also.
Their giftshop carried Disney stuff but it was not the WDW stuff. It would say Disney, Orlando type...
Anyway, I really liked it there..it was very relaxing and I'd stay there in a minute again. I don't know if they still do this but the room key card, they make into a souvenir magnet for you when you check out. My husband had room service of prime rib one night and it came to $10 LOL
If you want any more info, just ask I'm sure this is way more than what you expected to hear : )
Edited to add that I see Amy had the links for you! Also, excellent is spelled wrong above!

I just went to the link..just to clarify because it confused me until I read that it's for the Contemporary until the extension is built. Right now while they are housing everyone in Disney resorts tax is being charged. When they are finished rebuilding SOG and you start staying there again, it will be tax free. The extra $10 for the bay view also now applies to the room we had (thanks to an AOL'r who use to do ressies at SOG and suggested a room for me!). At the time we were there, there was no extra charge but now they charge $10 extra and I'd pay it!
The pictures of SOG are at wdwig.com/g_sog.htm
In my little old opinion here, the pictures on there now aren't too flattering. I do have better : ) shhhhhh

I think that was in a later thread.
Somebody, I don't remember who, predicted she'd show up. It could have been in private email.
For all that matters, I'd stick up for my Mom too. Even though I don't live there and she hasn't bought any of my computers or paid any of my bills.
Come to think of it, she's never taken me to WDW either!

You all jump on Deb because she said "poor people". Of course you are talking about her 6 figure spending at DW. Not one of you thought she meant poor people as in PITIFUL people??? NOPE!
I agree with LB when they say if you post with your real name you get jumped on. I have seen it happen over and over again with <i>anyone</i> who was even remotely connected to the <i> other place</i>.
As for computers in the house... we have four. Two desktops and two laptops. 3 on one IP and one for DH's work.... |

Not true. There are at least two people currently posting here with the same name they use on RCH. Both of these people are treated with respect, because they treat others with respect. You get what you give.

You are mistaken. I was a RCH member until I decided for myself that that environment was not suitable for me. I have never been "jumped on" here (except when I stick my size 11 foot in my mouth). The fact is, Deb is not considered credible here-- she brought that upon herself. I personally have no problem with Deb, and have talked with her at great length on the phone--Just like alot of people, she sometimes likes to stir the pot and watch the reactions. She's got money? B.F.D.--I have riches of another sort, and we have both earned what we have. I prefer to spend my meager earnings on Disney trips instead of computers.quote: QueenOfHearts wrote:
