Well I guess I was caught...lol
It's actually LoriBeth (Deb's whining daughter) as I am affectionately known over here.
I was trying to lighten things up over here. You guys are so intense. Do you really think if I posted under my real name that you all would have welcomed me with open arms as you did in my post several months ago? Jeesshh, I'm not that stupid...blonde, but not stupid.
I had come here before and posted to defend my Mom.
Don't tell me that none of you wouldn't defend your Mother if she was being verbally attacked. I don't always agree with her, but I will defend her to the end, whether I believe she is right or not.
We have numerous computers in our home that we both use and we have remote capabilities on them, so that is why you all jumped on Deb.
Anyway, there are some people out there that would love to be part of your community but they see people trying to come over under their real names and being attacked after voicing their opinions, whether right - wrong or indifferent.
I don't think any harm was done by my post. I am glad that so many of you enjoy one of my favorite treats at WDW, dole whip! And Ed, I like Pineapple, how about you???
Unfortunately, they wouldn't deliver it to the Poly, even for me! Can you believe that??? lmao
Well, now that I am out of the bag....I will go away, because I am sure I will be attacked.
Have a good holiday everyone!

I'll answer here so you know I won't tamper with your thread..
I'm sure your sharp tracking disabilities will allow you to see that LB and I are posting from the same IP..
Woo Hoo! Wow !
You are a genius for figuring that out.. good thing Novogate offers it as an option huh..
Now for all you computer wizards out there.. think on this one...
One household.. cable access.. four computers.. three of them laptops.. all linked together via a wireless router..
Also.. two of the laptops are identical.. absolutely identical.. (Gateway had a sale that I just couldn't pass up!)
So.. from any computer in this house.. on any of the 3 floors.. or front porch.. or backyard..
The IP remains the same..
Amazing isn't it..
Deb
ps.. I found it amusing what LB posted.. I too love pineapple dole whip.. |

Ever hear of a straw man? After the silliness of the "Sally" posting, some are now engaged in a argument over whether two computers on the same network could show the same ip.
They usually will.
Unless your isp has provided you with multiple static ip addresses you are most likely employing NAT on your home network and connecting to the internet with one ip address. Your LAN would be behind the public ip.

This is exactly the type of arrogant attitude that turns people off. There is an obvious tone of disdain for the audience in this statement that shows that the poster has no real sincerity or desire to reach any kind of common ground.
Four or even five computers for two people is not at all unusual. I think it is very common these days for people to have both a desktop and a laptop. Heck, even my elderly parents have 5 computers. That it would occur to her to include such a statement in her post demonstrates an attempt to use material wealth to elevate other's impression's of her self-worth and position. It actually has the opposite effect of showing her to be totally classless.

I've got, at last count, nineteen computers!!!
Uh, do they all have to be working?:D |

Crank,
Do they each have to have their own assigned monitors to count, or do miscellaneous parts count as fractions? |

LOL! Same problem I have!
At least it should be alleviated at Christmas when everybody gets new flat panels.
Anybody wanna buy a 386/33 with a whopping 80meg drive and four (count 'em) four WHOLE megs of RAM?
I'll throw in a 900baud modem!! |

heck, I'll do you one better. How about a Radio Shack Tandy TRS-80? I'd give it up, but it's worth real money now!quote: Crank wrote:

If you have limited room and it's usually one person going back and forth between computers, you might want to consider putting a monitor on a switchbox and having multiple computers use it.
I saved enough room doing that, to buy my computer it's own TV. It already has a vcr and wants it's own DVD player. When it's feeling better I may get it one too.
Some buy toys for their pets, others for their cars, I buy toys for my 'puter.

BFD--I've got one (not incl the TRS-80), that's right--ONE. I can only type on one at a time anyway--and I tend to do that badly--and I visit WDW every couple of weeks! SO THERE!!! |

You know Deb, I really and truly don't think anyone is jealous of what you have. You have earned your money, and you have a right to spend it as you see fit. What I object so strongly to is your constant need to flaunt what you have.
I am an RN and my DH is in the Army. Our combined gross income per year is significantly less than what you spend solely at WDW per year (you know--6 figures). Are we lesser people because we can only afford a deluxe resort if the cost is subsidized by the military? Are we poor, jealous people if we will never, ever be able to afford 10 computers for our family (you have 5 for the two of you, that means we'd need 10 for our family of four)? I think not. Our jobs may not be as lucrative as that of a "manufacturing executive", but we know we are making an significant contribution to bettering peoples' lives every single day.
So, though at times I feel like I would love to engage in the massively conspicuous consumption you are so fond of, the reality is that DH and I would have to switch to less emotionally fulfilling professions. Although we are both under 30, we have already learned the lesson that it's not what you have, it's what you are able to give of yourself that makes you truly happy.
So, the next time you are at WDW look for us on the monorail. We'll be those frightfully poor folks that get off at the CR to head back to their SoG subsidized NGW room. We'll probably be wearing clothes we bought at Kohl's and carrying a Wal-Mart backpack. But guess what? We'll be having a great time--"pissy dust" will do that for you! |

Hi Loribeth,
Loyalty is another one of those qualities I have great admiration for. Your mom is lucky (and I'm sure she knows it) to have a daughter whose loyalty is unconditional, imho
Of course, I speak only for myself, but - if and when I see your name by a post on Common Ground in the future - I will gladly join with you to lighten things up:)

I agree - Beast has a desktop in his home office, I use my laptop in my home office (linked via wireless access), and DD has a desktop in her room all of which are networked, and we have 2 PC's in the basement - one for when DH doesn't feel like leaving his "man space" to work, and the other which acts as a firewall. This is normal in our house, but it doesn't make me a better person :)
