With Christmas Day less than 36 hours distant, our server that handles applications, eligibility determinations, and benefit issuances has crashed with a resounding thud. So we're effectively out of business.
The State of Michigan operates on the 'lowest bid-10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag' theory. They buy the cheapest stuff they can find, then load it with so many applications that it fails when pushed to 80% capacity. So, with our offices closed tomorrow, a lot of people will be missing extra food benefits on their ATM cards for Christmas.
But the Novell server that handles the Internet and e-mail remains functional, so here we are surfing and yaking while Lansing 'works through the glitch'. |

Ajax-- I do believe if the government stopped financing those stupid "pork barrel" bills and just stuck with the basics, there would be money for education and updated computers for agencies like your office.
