Hello everyone here in the Common Ground. I come in peace, and I go in peace. I haven't been around in quite some time. I am not all "read up" on all the goings on of Common Ground as of the past month or so. But, I'd like to say something to those who have neutral feelings towards Magic Alley (the old Readers Clubhouse) and may not be aware that:

Everything is coming along nicely. Check out the Magic Alley All Stars' page. This a great bunch of hosts who are all real excited at our new and improved website. We've been working hard behind the scenes, and soon you'll have the chance to see everything when we open. Keep checking in. We'll be opening up soon.

Hugs,
Carrie

Great, Carrie! I hope your community becomes what you all want and need it to be. Grow it in peace.

I won't go until I get some
I won't go until i get some
I won't go until I get some
So bring it here, dear....

Is that the way it goes?

Good luck Carrie. The only problem I have with the new site's physical layout is the contrast of the fonts against the background. Sometimes I need to get right up to the monitor & peer!

Count me opposed! As long as YKW and YKW2 continue to earn money off of lies and false threats of criminal prosecution, they will have nothing but ill wishes from me.

And no, the fact that their incompetent boobery is leading their site to lose money big time isn't enough to satisfy me.

Count me in the middle. I think the site looks great and they have some great people hosting the forums and I wish them all the happiness in the world with the site.

I just think sooner or later something else is going to trigger another "episode" and some of these people will be dealt the same fate Lori and Francine (and many many more)were. Nobody deserves that. Especially people who just like Lori and Francine are just volunteering thier time to help out and truly believe in the people there.

I don't know...all the lies...the ostricisizing...the lost friendships...for what...A website? eh, it aint now and it never was worth that.

But again, I do wish the people happiness there and on one hand I really do hope it never happens again. On the other hand, I want all those people to understand what they did to Lori and Francine and the others and for once see the truth.

Cranks words about it all being about the people keep resonating with me on this. On the other hand, YKW and YKW2 have done this over and over and I don't see any reason that they won't do it again.

Like I said, I'm in the middle.

Well I'm going to be completely selfish here: I'm wishing them well because I want good things to come to MY life. Letting this go is going to create a place for wonderful things to come into my life, so if releasing them from my life is considered "weak" or "cowardly", I don't really care.

I also don't feel like taking apart and putting back together my PC again any time in the near future, so note that I haven't visited, nor do I INTEND to ever visit the new MagicAlley website unless my name is dragged back into the fracus.

I've just had WAY too many negative things horn in on my happy internet surfing so I'm letting as many of those negative things go as I can. I just don't have the stomach, heart or emotion to deal with it anymore, whether it's Magic Alley, Common Ground or the DIS.

Okay, admittedly I'm in a bit of a funk today. Some rather ummm well, okay, scary stuff dumped on me this week, and I'm dealing with it well...at times. Ed is dealing with it...at times. Most others, family and my kids included, don't know anything yet, and won't till I know more myself which will be a couple of weeks. So please bear with my kinda bad mood today and watch your toes cuz I'm liable to step on a few here.

But I read Carrie's post and my initial response was. Kewl! Then I went and checked out the 'All Star' list. There's a bunch of people, only a few of which I really recognize, hosting a bunch of forums that don't exist yet, that if I read right, despite Carrie's kind invitation, most of us here won't be able to 'check out' unless we fill out damage statements-the going price of membership? (or has that changed?)

Then I see the cutesy little pirate hat and see this forum called 'Captain's Bridge' and I'm stuck trying to decide if this is supposed to be funny, flattering, a sort of acceptance of this place, or another downright shot. (not like that has happened before)

Don't get me wrong, I really would prefer to believe the best, and hope this is way off the mark. But in light of all that has gone on, the fact that history tends to repeat itself and it's been a bit quiet lately, other than a couple people trying suddenly to 'make nice' again. I guess the budding cynic in me is making an appearance.

I had a pal in college who, when someone was leaving, was fond of saying "Don't let the door knob hit ya where the good Lord split ya" Well, when I was ousted, no one said good-bye, but I guess there is still an imprint and a bit of a bruise from the dang door knob.

Message to the 'Alley Kats': Prove me wrong. Be the 'nice' 'peaceful' happy little community where 'NO ONE gets hurt', and 'everyone's a member' that you used to profess to be. Cut the crap from the site. Not that what I think really matters, obviously, but believe it or not, I really cared about that place and the image it presented to people. A lot of people who are no longer involved there invested a whole lot of time, energy and themselves, in it to make it what it was and in fact whatever you folks decide to make it now. No matter what you might choose to believe, at least a bit of the image you have on the net now is a direct result of all that effort as much as it is the coding that went into the site. Do you go there for the site? or for the people you interact with while there? You can have the best coding in the world for a community but if the people there are nasty, cold, or just plain dull, odds are you won't stick around, right? Cut the crap, go back to what was good and magical about the site and got it the respect it used to have on the net. Cut the crap and get that back.

Or not.

Oh, and Lunar Lady,

You go girl! Your posts the last few days have blown doors!

I'm trying to get back there too, and was doing a fair job, till Monday when life stepped in on me. I'll get there too. To get past and get on, no looking back is on my list of resolutions. Along with not allowing others to gain control of me anymore-this one is a rerun-been here before. Seems I don't need the stress anymore.

Wish me luck!

Personally, I applaud this reasoning I keep discovering over and over again that feeling good is consistently more fun and more attractive to more good feelings than being right, and I am resolved to live by the motto, "I'd rather be happy than right."

What you say, Coastal, has the ring of truth... but then, as I look back on my experiences I wouldn't trade them in. Chances are very good that I'm more discerning, more computer savvy, more impervious to childish hurtfulness, and more able to let go of grudges easily and give folks the benefit of the doubt than before it happened. I love who I've become as a result of living through that episode.

I guess everyone has their own path towards feeling good. While it's not likely that I'll return to participate where I know there are unkind and untrue things said about me behind my back, I bear no ill will and will always leave the door open for happy resolution. I'll celebrate for the folks who do find their good feelings there and trust they will find their way through where ever their path leads them. See how that is?

Can we please keep these replies down to two or three sentences comprised of single syllable words? I've picked up a shot of the flu, and I'm taking enough drugs today to bring a smile to Dennis Hoppers face. My comprehension level is a tad on the low side. Pardon me if I say 'huh?' a lot.

I guess the gist of this deal is that I'll be nice until someone goes haywire. Let's hope that doesn't happen. And please close the Community Court. I don't think there's any business to be done there.

That's not good, is it? I'm OK, just miserable. And whiney.

What she said. It took me a long time, what with the Catholic background and all, to come to the truth of forgiveness. It means letting go. What it doesn't mean is that they get to do it to you again.

Welcome Carrie!

Isn't it wonderful to be able to post this here? Thus far the responses have been kind and heartwarming.

Would you do me a favor and post this at Magic Alley? Personally, I don't agree to their TOS:

To all the truly wonderful folk at Magic Alley:

Have a joyous and magical Holiday Season! We at Common Ground would like you to know that you are all welcome to visit http://novogate.com/exco/index.php?boardid=146. We are a diverse group of free-thinkers more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

To those individuals whose lies and deceit have caused undo pain and recrimination to both Magic Alley folk and Common Grounders alike I hope the Spirit of the Season will urge you to examine your consciences and make reparation for your past indiscretions.

Start the New Year with a clear conscience.

Happy Holidays!

I will join you Ajax. I got the pneumonia vaccine two days ago, and it did not agree with me. I ended up with a fairly bad reaction to it, and am on some meds now. The nurses, bless their hearts, promised me that I wouldn't be any more loopy then usual! They did note that I am usually more loopy then most. I am definitely feeling a bit like I am in the clouds.

I hope you are feeling better real quick. Get lots of rest, drink lots of water, and watch some Disney videos.

I agree. To much of my time has been spent being angry, and thinking bad thoughts about all of this. I have been working the last several days to move past all of that. Bad feelings are just that, bad. They, in the long run, hurt me more then they hurt who I feel angry at.

So, everything Ahnalira says, is exactly how I feel.

So much wisdom here in this thread!
Fan, I hope the bad stuff goes away. No need to elaborate. Just good luck to you.
I don't quite understand why Carrie posted an invitation ( or do I? Hummm) but I won't be visiting there. I do wish them all happiness, though. And to all CGer, I wish the peace of the Season throughout the year.
I just hope the boat doesn't get rocked in the future, but for now it's become a very pleasant voyage on the Stickey Mickey.

Uh oh....that is BAD! Quick somebody hold Ajax down so I can dump a bottle of garlic pills in his mouth. He HAS to get better PRONTO! It is critical that he does so he can enjoy his trip to WDW.

Let's all chant together:

Ajax, get better!
Ajax, get better!
Ajax, get better!

Oh I truly hope you get over the worst of it because I want to know what you think of the Candlelight processional and the MVMCP parade where everybody sang with the characters in the parade and I actually joined in--it was incredible, Ajax--four months of listening to Christmas music before the trip so I could be familiar with it and it paid off. You should have seen my oldest daughter's face--pure happiness when I sang and danced with her as the parade went by. "Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way! Oh what is fun to ride in one horse open sleigh. HEY!"

Do get better.

(carrying a huge bottle of bleach) Oh--I'm just scrubbing down the ship so no one will get sick. I wonder if I could get Tink to cast a "anti-norwalk" spell on the ship? It wouldn't be fun if all of us spent the time at the party upchucking our foods over the railing......

I totally agree with you, Peggo. I don't understand why Carrie would post that message but I'm so glad that we're remembering the true spirit of Christmas. (sticks foot out and trips ronski as he walks by) So much love and goodwill toward men.

I like this thread a lot. It's inspiring in a way that harmonizes nicely with the season. That said . . . it's a very cynical note to strike here . . . but I hope it doesn't mysteriously vanish. The track record for threads started by Clubhouse/Magic Alley folks isn't very encouraging.
