I used to like Zingers, but sometime in the last 10 years or so, they changed the choccolate icing on them, and now it is not as soft as it used to be.

As for Twinkies, check out the movie UHF, starring Weird Al Yankovic. At one point, he makes a "Twinkie-wiener sandwich". This involoves slicing a Twinkie lengthwise, and cramming a cooked hot dog into the creamy filling. Yes, he really ate several of these during filming.

End of useless trivia.

I think Deep Fried Twinkies were first featured in the movie 'Elvis Checks Out'.

OK, Kim. Take care!

I just saw an 8" Chocolate Motherload Cake on the Food Channel that weighed 15 pounds, with 6 pounds of icing.... It only contained 3,000 calories per slice. Wow...

Well, this is interesting. How exactly does not reading here at all, which is what you claim, equate to your observation of what Ajax does or doesn't "constantly" post about?

Anyhow, I happen to like yodels. Carry on.

I suspect you lost as much respect for yourself as I have for you.

That was on FoodNetwork this evening. So I think my question would be if a Twinkie has a shelf life of forever and deep frying will kill you, if you eat enough do they cancel each other out?

Um....this is probably the time to tell you (and I wish I HAD told y'all before) that I once got extremely sick on twinkies and beer in my youth. I won't touch them anymore and the thought of them makes me want to ralph once again. Almost lost it when VB mentioned frying them. But I really liked the question about how long it takes to explode a twinkie in a microwave.

Thanks for the trivia, Coastal, but I'm making a plea for no more twinkie talk. Hostess cupcakes...good. Twinkies (and beer combo)...bad.

Well, I was thinking of a whole thread about HAPPY HO HO!and why he never attained the fame of his more famous brothers and sisters. I mean we all know about Twinkie The Kid, Captain Cupcake, King Ding Dong, and Fruit Pie The Magician, but let's face it, old HO HO is the Danny Danny Bonaduche of Cupcakes. I think the whole sordid story is premiering next month on E!

I know I'll be pouring a cold one and watching!

What can I say? I was an 18 y/o smoking pot and drinking beer. Got the munchies, only thing in the house was twinkies.

The only thing worse than puking up twinkies is puking up cheap wine, Jack Daniels and french fries. Fortunately, I didn't get as much of an aversion to french fries, although Boone's Farm wine will make me puke now.

Funny summation to this story: once I turned 21, all interest in drinking went away and now it only takes about 2 glasses of wine to get me toasted. I guess I only liked doing things like that when it was illegal.

Oh well, live and learn!

When I was 18, I helped destroy a pizza, then drank a pint of Southern Comfort. I vomited for a week.
To this day, just the sight of a bottle of that stuff makes me ill.
