That's how cold it was at Casa Ajax this morning. With the wind chill, -14!
How cold was it? When I let the poor dog out, a band of Brass Monkeys ran past clutching their groins. That's pretty darn cold!
Did you see me at EPCOT on New Years Eve? I was wearing a yellow poncho...

Before Ed moved out here from CA I'd tease him when he told me it was cold. I'd ask how cold and generally the response was low 50's maybe mid to high 40's if it was reeeeeeeally cold (insert giggle here) I told him cold was when the dog went outside to do his doo doo and ended up with an icicle.

Needless to say he's handling this cold snap in fits and starts. Over-all better than I might expect actually. We've not had a really bad winter since he's moved here so I'm waiting for the big one to hit to see what he really will do.

All I know is that it's purty durn cold. I just loved finding I had a soft tire last night after work and having to add some air while I scraped ice from the windows-around midnight.

Long Island reporting in: currently (5:30 pm) it is 18 degrees, dipping down to a low of 7 tonight. Balmy by some of your standards, but we just aren't used to this here for prolonged periods of time.

The kids across the street got a hockey rink for Christmas and their father set it up the day after and was worrying that it would not be cold enough to freeze and stay frozen. Silly him!

The weather update from Agawam, Massachusetts is looking pretty cold. Right now, it is -1º. The wind hasn't been as bad as yesterday, but it is still blowing. The wind chill is just around -10º.

And, I don't want to hear any of this wimp stuff, Robb!! I am not a wimp. I am a petite flower that needs to be kept warm, and out of the wind. We petite flowers are very fragile, you know.

I am actually okay with this weather. The sun has been shining, for the most part. I love that! All you need is a window with the sun shining through it, and you have instant warmth.

We have a nice flat backyard and I've been tempted to get one of those inflatable hockey rinks for my kids, but up till this year no way would it have stayed frozen longer than a day. This year it would've been great. Who knew?

Currently 11 degrees with a windchill of 2 here in NJ brrrrr.

I gotta get dressed and go out and work in this crap.

My son and I were just talking about this on the way home from school today. It's 15 with somewhere in the minus with windchill, I really didn't want to know. I told him, remember when we use to think 60 degrees was cold back in CA and everyone wore coats? Shoot, now we can go back wearing shorts in 60 degrees!

As bad as I feel for Ahnalira that it's so cold down there, I have to admit a little devilish glee because someone who has been incredibly nasty to me is down there on her vacation right now.

My turn to check in. Yeah, it's cold here in Chicago but it's my office I will talk about. See, I have temperature control problems in here. Was still running the window air conditioner last week. I guess it takes sub-zero temps to cool it off as it was 47 degrees IN MY OFFICE yesterday when I came in. Today it's a balmy 58. Yes, I finally had to turn on the space heater. Facilites Management is getting a big laugh out of this since every office I have moved to here has these problems. None as bad as this particular office though.

Well, we're on our third no school snow day in a row, despite there being NO FREAKIN' SNOW! We got the tiniest dusting of snow last night, and it was gone by morning, but they called off school anyway. Guess other parts of the mountains got some snow, but this is ridiculous! I'm going crazy having two kids home at once! It's a beautiful day though, so maybe we'll walk to the park.

The thermometer on the deck registered -10 this morning. The snow squeeked like two pieces of styrofoam beong rubbed together when you stepped on it, and my truck groaned like hell when I turned the starter.
The dog had to pee, but tried to bolt back in when her nose hit the cold air. I made her stay out until she finished her business, during which she looked at me with the most pathetic expression that I've ever seen on her face.
I'd be sad too if I had to lay my equipment in a snowbank when it was -10.
